AI Solutions Engineer
Indexed description
Background:
Wiss is building AI capabilities that improve how our teams operate and how we help our clients solve complex business problems. As part of the Digital Technology team, the AI Solutions Engineer will design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications, intelligent workflows, and automation solutions that support both client-facing advisory engagements and internal operations across the firm.
You will work closely with Wiss Labs to architect and implement practical AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency, advisory delivery, and client service capabilities.
Wiss Labs is the AI innovation arm of Wiss — the engine behind every engagement, every tool, and every team. Built to make accounting more intelligent for the people who do it and the clients who depend on it.
This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for someone who enjoys combining software engineering, AI technologies, and solution architecture to deliver measurable business impact. From rapid prototyping to production deployment, you will contribute to scalable AI systems that solve real business challenges in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
The role offers exposure to both internal transformation initiatives and client-facing projects, with opportunities to help shape the future of AI engineering and intelligent automation across Wiss.
This position will be based in our Florham Park, NJ office with a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office). LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY! Wiss is not currently offering sponsorship.
Compensation is outlined below and will be commensurate with experience:
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on AI Solutions engineer with strong Python skills and a solid understanding of finance, accounting, or professional services. You come with direct experience building AI platforms and data pipelines, scaling production systems, and working with the latest large language models and agentic AI frameworks. You are equally comfortable writing code, presenting to senior client stakeholders, and mentoring colleagues on emerging technology.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions (including LLM-based applications, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation) to address mid-market client needs across advisory engagements
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and integration layers connecting AI platforms with client systems (e.g., ERP, accounting, and financial platforms)
- Prototype, experiment, and iterate rapidly using the modern AI technologies and tooling — from foundational models and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to multi-agent orchestration and agent-based AI systems
- Lead client-facing interactions: gather requirements, present solution recommendations, demonstrate prototypes, and guide stakeholders through AI adoption and change management
- Architect and scale AI platforms from proof-of-concept through production deployment, ensuring reliability, security, and performance
- Stay current with the evolving AI landscape — evaluate new models, frameworks, tools, and vendors — and translate insights into actionable opportunities for the firm and its clients
- Collaborate with Wiss Labs to test, validate, and deploy emerging AI and fintech tools within live accounting and advisory workflows
- Influence and lead: contribute to AI engineering standards, architecture decisions, and implementation best practices across the firm, mentor junior team members, and help build the AI engineering function within the Technology team
- Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, thought leadership, and client presentations that position Wiss as a leader in AI-enabled professional services and technology solutions
Technical Skills & Tools
- Proficiency in programming languages — Python is required — and experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django for building production-grade APIs and services
- Hands-on experience with large language models (OpenAI, Claude, Llama, Gemini, etc.), prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and model evaluation
- Experience designing and building agentic AI systems and multi-agent workflows using orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar
- Working knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases such as Pinecone or Weaviate, and embedding pipelines
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with data engineering tools and pipelines (Airflow, dbt, Spark, or equivalent) and SQL/NoSQL databases
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, observability, scalable architecture with CI/CD, version control (Git/ADO), and MLOps practices for managing AI model lifecycles
- Exposure to AI-OCR, intelligent document processing, and automation within finance/accounting workflows is a strong plus
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, solution architecture, data engineering, or related technical roles, preferably within professional services, fintech, financial advisory, consulting, or enterprise environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated track record of building and deploying AI or ML solutions in a production environment — not just research or academic settings
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to shift priorities quickly, work independently, and drive initiatives from concept to delivery
- Understanding of financial concepts, accounting processes, or ERP systems
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Polished written and verbal communication skills — comfortable presenting to C-suite executives, board members, and client leadership teams
- Willingness to travel to client sites in the NJ/NYC metro area as engagement needs require
What We Offer
- A leadership track with opportunities to help shape AI engineering and intelligent automation initiatives across the firm, with direct visibility to firm leadership.
- The chance to build something from the ground up — shape the AI engineering team, define standards, and set the technology direction for how Wiss serves its clients
- Exposure to a wide variety of industries and client challenges across the mid-market — real estate, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, consumer products, and more
- A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture recognized as a Best Place to Work (Accounting Today, NJBIZ, Great Place to Work® certified) with a hybrid work arrangement
- Professional development support including continuing education, conference attendance, and access to the latest AI tools and platforms through Wiss Labs
Target Salary - $150-$175k + discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits and 401K
