AWS Cloud Platform Engineer
£65,000 - £80,000 | Remote (Southern England) | AWS | Docker / ECS | Hybrid Infrastructure
Some infrastructure roles are about keeping the lights on.
This isn't one of them.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a complex AWS environment, improve it, and help shape what "good" really looks like.
You'll join a successful, owner-led SaaS business that's investing heavily in its platform. The foundations are there, but now they're looking for someone with the experience and confidence to strengthen the environment, improve security, introduce best practice, and help build an infrastructure that's ready for the next stage of growth.
If you enjoy solving complex problems, making meaningful improvements, and leaving environments better than you found them, you'll feel right at home here.
What's in it for you?
- £65,000 - £80,000 salary
- Fully remote role with occasional travel to Portsmouth when required (circa once/month)
- The successful candidate will need to be based in the South of England for ad hoc visits to the office
- Genuine ownership of the AWS platform
- The opportunity to influence technical direction and best practice
- Join a growing SaaS business with ambitious long-term plans
- Work closely with Engineering, Architecture and Technical teams
What you'll be doing
- Taking ownership of a large AWS environment and driving continual improvement
- Designing secure, scalable and well-architected cloud infrastructure
- Leading infrastructure projects from assessment through to implementation and migration
- Improving security, governance, reliability and cost optimisation
- Supporting a hybrid environment across AWS, Azure and on-prem infrastructure
- Working closely with software engineering teams to develop DevOps practices
- Introducing automation and infrastructure as code where appropriate
What you'll need
- Strong commercial AWS infrastructure experience
- Hands-on experience with Docker and AWS ECS
- Experience improving and modernising existing cloud environments rather than simply supporting them
- Good understanding of hybrid infrastructure and cloud architecture
- Experience with technologies such as Terraform, Ansible or CDK would be highly beneficial
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to take ownership and work autonomously
Why this role?
This isn't a role where you'll own one small piece of a much bigger platform.
You'll have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the cloud environment, influence how infrastructure is delivered, and see the impact of your work across the business.
If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference, we'd love to hear from you – please forward a copy of your CV to bob . bath @ mexasolutions . com
