AI Engineer - PE-backed Fintech startup

Interested founding the AI function of a rapidly growing, private equity-backed fintech startup?

This role is with an established financial technology startup delivering SaaS to institutional investors, and they just closed a significant growth equity round to accelerate their product and AI roadmap.

You're coming in as the first AI-focused engineer in the business. That means the frameworks, the orchestration patterns, the evaluation standards, the security posture, all of it sits with you. There's no inherited codebase to navigate, no one else's decisions to work around. You write the playbook from scratch and everything the company builds from here reflects the foundations you put in place.

Day to day you're designing and shipping AI agents that solve business-critical problems for hedge funds, asset managers, and other major financial institutions. You're making architectural decisions that will shape how this company builds for years to come, in an environment that moves fast because the lean structure and growth equity behind them means they can.

For this role you'll need to be proficient in Python and ideally have operated within a Microsoft environment (C#, SQL Server). Given you are leading the technical direction of AI within the company, you should definitely have built LLM-based agents in a production setting. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a similar field is highly desirable. There is no preset roadmap, so you'll need to have been around enough to know what good looks like and be confident making calls on architectural decisions.
