What To Expect
Are you ready to immerse yourself in a world where your passion for cutting-edge technology meets the urgent need to protect our maritime world? The Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructure is on a mission and we are looking for brilliant minds like you to join us!
Become part of a team dedicated to developing technologies to protect the maritime domain. We work hard to develop new concepts that keep everything from harbours to offshore wind farms secure. As a member of our Maritime Security Technologies team, you can explore innovative solutions that matter to everyone.
Today, research in the field of artificial intelligence is essential for analysing sonar data. Here you will develop deep learning methods that improve the evaluation of data from state-of-the-art underwater sensors, as well as generative models for the synthesis of sonar data in order to optimise the training process. You will also be able to test the methods you have developed in a practical environment as part of measurement campaigns.
Results from this work will also be integrated into a maritime situational awareness system, ensuring important results are easily available to end users a major step forward in maritime security.
Perhaps you are also thinking about performing PhD studies? At DLR we also support you on your academic path!
Your tasks
- development of generative models for the simulation of data from underwater acoustic sensors, including comparison with existing approaches
- development of deep learning methods for the evaluation of data from underwater acoustic sensors, including comparison with existing approaches
- planning and execution of measurement campaigns to record data sets from underwater sensors needed for validation of the developed methods
- integration of your work into our maritime situational awareness system
- completed scientific university degree (university diploma or Master's degree) in an information technology field (e.g. computer science), engineering field (e.g. electrical engineering), a natural science field (e.g. physics) or other degree programs relevant to the job
- experience in development of deep learning models from the field of computer vision (e.g. object detection or image generation)
- knowledge and experience in acoustics, sonar, radar or expertise in similar areas
- first experiences in publication of scientific findings
- proficiency in written and spoken English
We look forward to getting to know you!
