Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a an innovative, hands-on Lead AI Product Engineer to design, build, and evolve an AI-enabled Capital Project Delivery Platform that will transform how capital projects are planned, approved, executed, monitored, and delivered. The successful candidate will partner closely with Engineering, Project Controls, Supply Chain & Logistics, Finance, Digital, and Project Management teams to develop the next generation of our Project Delivery ecosystem. The platform will build upon our existing Smartsheet based Project Portfolio Management solution and evolve it into an enterprise AI-enabled system that integrates estimating, project governance, financial management, scheduling, procurement, logistics, reporting, and organizational knowledge into a single intelligent platform. At the heart of this initiative is our vision of “PM in a Pocket”—an AI-powered digital advisor that supports Project Managers throughout the entire capital project lifecycle by providing intelligent guidance, predictive insights, historical knowledge, automated reporting, and actionable recommendations.

Role accountabilities:

• Design and develop a scalable enterprise AI platform for capital project delivery.

• Select and implement enterprise-grade LLMs and supporting AI technologies.

• Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and workflow automation.

• Integrate Smartsheet, SAP, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Cost Management systems, SharePoint, and enterprise document repositories.

• Build secure cloud-native solutions and rapidly prototype new AI capabilities

PM in a Pocket The platform should function as an intelligent Project Delivery Advisor that:

• Recommends next project management activities.

• Guides users through CARs, estimating, procurement requests, and governance workflows.

• Provides examples using historical projects.

• Validates user inputs and recommends best practices.

• Evaluates schedule, cost, and risk issues and recommends corrective actions.

• Leverages historical lessons learned and approved external best practices.

• Performs scenario planning and predictive analytics.

Enterprise System Integration Integrate:

• Smartsheet Project Portfolio

• SAP (budgets, actuals, commitments, accruals, forecasts, WBS, purchase orders, capitalization)

• Cost Management reports Lead AI Product Engineer

• Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet schedules

• Engineering documents, standards, templates, lessons learned, and governance documentation

Future Platform Roadmap The architecture should support future expansion into:

• Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Order execution

• Equipment and material tracking

• Vendor performance and long-lead equipment monitoring

• Logistics coordination and shipment tracking

• Trade Compliance and import/export documentation

• Construction coordination and site delivery planning

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred).

• 5–10+ years developing enterprise software products.

• Experience with enterprise AI, Python, SQL, APIs, cloud platforms, RAG, vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks.

• Experience with SAP, Smartsheet, Primavera, Microsoft Project, Azure/AWS, GitHub Copilot/Cursor is highly desirable.

• Ability to provide legal US work authorization documents required. Will consider US domestic travelers and relocation. Why Arcadis?
