We are partnering with a globally recognised health technology organisation to recruit an experienced Azure DevOps / Platform Engineer for an initial 6-month contract. This role sits within a high-performing Cloud Engineering team, working on secure, scalable, cloud-native systems that support critical, real-world applications.
This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful, high-impact work while helping shape a modern Azure platform with a strong focus on security, automation, and reliability.
The Role You will join a collaborative team of six engineers, taking ownership of designing, building, and operating Azure-based platforms. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can deliver well-structured, production-grade infrastructure using Terraform, with minimal oversight.
All infrastructure is defined as code and deployed via CI/CD pipelines, with a strong emphasis on modular design, maintainability, and alignment to business rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- Develop reusable Terraform modules aligned to business and security requirements
- Implement and enforce Azure security controls and policies
- Lead platform security initiatives across Azure environments
- Contribute to observability, alerting, and Site Reliability Engineering practices
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver resilient and scalable solutions
- Implement perimeter security using Azure Front Door WAF, including OWASP Top 10 protection and bot mitigation
- Analyse WAF rules, manage false positives, and work with stakeholders to refine policies
- Define and enforce Azure Policies for consistent firewall and network security standards
- Secure AKS environments, including container scanning, alerting, and remediation
- Transition from Azure security defaults to structured Conditional Access policies with staged rollout
- Implement Entra ID P2 controls for risky sign-ins, including monitoring and alerting
- Secure CI/CD pipelines through network restrictions and managed identities
- Audit and respond to risky sign-ins and identity threats
- Analyse and remediate Microsoft Defender high and critical vulnerabilities
- Implement and manage Azure Sentinel for security monitoring and auditing
- Consolidate security auditing into unified reporting frameworks
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (certification required)
- HashiCorp Terraform certification and proven expertise in Terraform
- Kubernetes certification and experience with AKS
- Deep understanding of DevOps and platform engineering principles
- Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices
- Experience with observability, monitoring, and SRE concepts
- £600 per day, Outside IR35
