About Alto Health
Alto Health is building AI for clinical referrals. Our platform automates referral intake and pre-visit readiness for hospitals, turning unstructured referral letters into structured, guideline-checked, action-ready information for clinical teams. We are CE-marked Medical Device under EU MDR and are currently conducting a pilot with an Irish private hospital group. Our extraction performance has been independently validated in a peer-reviewed clinical study with University of Galway.
We are a small, founder-led team backed by Enterprise Ireland. Our dual-agent architecture pairs an Assistant that does the work with a Judge that checks it, designed for regulated clinical environments from day one. You would be one of our first hires, working directly with the founders, with genuine ownership over how clinical AI safety gets built and shipped.
Our values
Patient safety before everything. If an output is not safe and traceable, it does not ship.
Evidence over hype. We validate claims with clinicians and publish the numbers, good and bad.
Rigour at startup speed. Regulated does not mean slow; we build quality into the workflow so we can move fast without cutting corners.
Clinicians in the loop. We build with and for clinical teams, and lower-confidence cases always route to human review.
Own it end to end. Small team, big scope; everyone ships, and everyone supports what they ship.
Role mission
Turn clinical complexity into reliable product execution by building and shipping our AI safety layer. Your work should shorten the time from clinical issue discovery to production-ready fix, while keeping outputs safe, traceable, and usable by clinical teams.
Core responsibilities
• Build clinical AI evaluation and guardrail modules that detect quality failures, ambiguity, and edge-case risk across the product lifecycle.
• Assess and monitor AI output quality across the product lifecycle, and produce clear, actionable findings for engineering and product teams.
• Translate clinical guidelines and pathway rules into structured, testable product logic with clear validation checks.
• Support prompt and pipeline packaging, reruns, comparisons, and release-readiness preparation under change control.
• Produce traceable, export-ready technical outputs that support quality and compliance evidence assembly.
• Improve deployment readiness by building practical runbooks, checklists, and repeatable implementation support assets.
About you
• Clinical or health informatics grounding, with strong ability to reason through real clinical policies and referral pathways.
• Technical fluency to work with scripts, structured data, and engineering tools in day-to-day delivery.
• Strong GenAI evaluation mindset and high attention to detail in validation-heavy work.
• Ability to convert ambiguity into structured actions and move quickly in a startup delivery environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication across clinical and technical teams.
Nice to have
• Experience in healthtech or other regulated software environments, ideally in startup settings.
• Hands-on coding ability for small implementation changes (for example Python or similar).
• Experience with knowledge representation, policy digitisation, or structured clinical logic.
• Familiarity with healthcare terminologies and standards (for example ICD, CPT, FHIR, guideline-based workflows).
• Prior clinical research or publication experience.
Compensation and benefits
• Competitive salary, dependent on level and fit.
• Meaningful equity via our employee share option plan.
• Make a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare, with your work live in real clinical settings.
• Collaborate with leading experts in AI, healthcare, and engineering.
• Visa sponsorship available for exceptional candidates.
