JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement algorithms for tasks such as pattern recognition, optimization, recommendation, or signal processing.
- Code algorithms in languages like Python, C++, Java, or MATLAB and integrate them into larger software systems.
- Test and validate algorithms against real-world data to assess accuracy, robustness, and performance.
- Analyze results, generate reports, and communicate findings and tradeoffs (e.g., accuracy vs. speed, resource usage).
- Optimize and maintain existing algorithms, including profiling, refactoring, and updating models as data or requirements change.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software engineers, data scientists, product managers, hardware/firmware engineers) to translate requirements into algorithmic solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, statistics, physics, or a related field; many roles prefer a master’s or PhD for advanced modeling and machine learning work.
- Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language (often Python and C++), plus tools like MATLAB or SQL as needed.
- Knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and/or signal processing, especially for roles in AI, data science, or DSP-heavy domains.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, clear communication, teamwork, and the ability to work on ambiguous or early-stage projects.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use and understand Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Microsoft (email). This is additional to the computer skill requirements as stated in the requirement qualifications.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to read and understand engineering prints/drawings. Good level of analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to guide the efforts of support personnel. Good teambuilding skills.
