Massive Marine AI — Software Development Engineer (SDE)
We're hiring a Software Development Engineer to join our team building AI-driven situational awareness and navigation safety systems for the maritime industry.
At Massive Marine AI, we build a safety network at sea - from private yachts to large commercial cargo vessels - through custom camera systems and risk analysis software. We take the latest AI research and turn it into products that run on real ships, in real, challenging conditions.
If you want to work on real-world engineering problems with an agile, high-impact AI team, this role is for you.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality applications. They will also be responsible for designing and implementing testable and scalable code.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize the core software architecture behind our AI-based situational awareness and risk analysis systems
- Build high-performance integrations across multi-sensor streams, data processing pipelines, and user interfaces
- Maximize the stability, security, and speed of software running on both edge devices and servers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
- Advanced Python skills and clean coding practices
- Strong grounding in OOP, multithreading, and parallel processing
- Desktop application development with PyQt5; working knowledge of HTML, JS, and CSS
- Active Linux experience and command of Git version control
- Prior experience on AI projects and familiarity with NVIDIA GPU workflows (CUDA/TensorRT, etc.)
- Analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve technical blockers independently
Nice to have
- Having participated in relevant technical teams during university, for recent graduates.
- Video and image processing experience: OpenCV, FFmpeg, GStreamer
- Experience with YOLO architectures and computer vision
- Experience with sensor fusion technologies
- Advanced Linux administration; Nuitka experience for compiling/protecting Python code
- Strong networking knowledge; experience with NMEA, Serial, TCP, and SFTP protocols
- Spatial reasoning, geometric/mathematical problem-solving, and advanced algorithm knowledge
- C++ for low-level optimization when needed
What we offer
- A start-up culture that rewards continuous learning and pushing technical limits
- The satisfaction of seeing your code run on real ships, at sea
- A flat, engineering-driven environment focused on your growth
If you want to work at the intersection of maritime and AI and build things with real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll also need to complete this 3-minute test.
*Applications without it won't be reviewed, and test performance has no bearing on candidate screening.
