Job Summary
The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a transformational practitioner who applies modern AI-enabled workflow methodologies and intelligent automation platforms inside clinical and operational organizations. A core focus of this role will be identifying opportunities to replace outdated clinical and non-clinical workflows with advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions, automating manual processes, reducing administrative burden, and driving meaningful productivity gains across the organization. This role reflects the expectations of a forward-deployed practitioner capable of full-stack AI implementation, leading customer-facing discovery and design analysis, creating functional and technical requirements, guiding execution of those requirements, and providing post-go-live oversight to ensure sustainable value realization.
Key Responsibilities
Support Design and Process Mapping
- Participate in design sessions with clinical and operational teams to document current workflows, identify automation and AI-enablement opportunities, and define future-state process maps.
- Translate design outcomes into configuration requirements for AI-enabled workflows and orchestration logic under the guidance of senior engineering leaders.
- Support alignment between clinical, business, and technology teams through structured analysis, documentation, and visualization of workflows.
- Lead customer-facing discovery efforts to create detailed functional and technical requirements that reflect the unique needs of our client's clinical teams.
- Configure and adapt components within the standardized workflow library to simulate future-state processes using AI-driven orchestration capabilities.
- Assist in scenario testing, workflow validation, and performance tracking across clinical use cases.
- Document findings, design iterations, and improvement recommendations for continuous refinement.
- Contribute to full-stack AI implementation by translating requirements into agentic workflows, data signals, and orchestration logic.
- Support deployment efforts by coordinating across clinical, IT, and engineering functions to ensure smooth rollouts.
- Monitor workflow performance and AI agent behavior, capturing feedback from clinical teams for continuous optimization.
- Contribute insights to refine reusable design templates and orchestration patterns across engagements.
- Provide post-go-live oversight to ensure operational stability, quality improvements, and sustained clinical value realization.
- Lead portions of requirement execution during deployment phases, partnering closely with clinical staff to drive adoption.
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, AI Engineering, and/or Forward Deployed Engineering
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake for data warehousing, querying, and pipeline integration in a production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure Cloud services, including data engineering, storage, and deployment infrastructure.
- Experience with ETL pipeline design and software engineering fundamentals in a data-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of healthcare clinical workflows, care team structures, and operational processes. Medicare Advantage or primary care experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of workflow design, automation, and systems integration.
- Exposure to AI tools, APIs, or data orchestration frameworks. Working knowledge of Python and SQL required.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated ability to work across clinical and technical stakeholders.
- Intellectual curiosity and adaptability, comfortable navigating ambiguity in transformation environments.
- Experience or interest in full-stack AI solution delivery, from requirements gathering through deployment and iteration.
