AI Application Engineer – Smart Factory

The AI Application Engineer – Smart Factory will serve as the technical architect and key executor for our APAC Smart Factory strategy. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying end-to-end AI-driven solutions to optimize factory operations. You will transform raw industrial data from IoT sensors and shop-floor systems into actionable intelligence and autonomous actions, accelerating our transition toward a fully connected production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical consultant to the Operations & Supply Chain (Ops & SC) team, ensuring AI solutions directly address manufacturing bottlenecks such as improving operation efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Data Analytics team to translate the Smart Factory roadmap into scalable technical solutions and validate model impact against business KPIs.
• Design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI/ML models for high-impact manufacturing use cases, including Predictive Analytics, Computer Vision, and OCR.
• Design and build robust data pipelines to ingest data from industrial protocols into a centralized data lake for model training.
• Support and enhance the internal AI Agent using Large Language Model (LLM) frameworks to deliver advanced manufacturing insights and user support.
• Implement comprehensive MLOps practices to ensure continuous monitoring, automated retraining, and peak accuracy of all deployed models.
• Develop interactive tools and APIs, specifically related to Open Computer Vision, to facilitate the adoption of AI solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience applying Machine Learning or Deep Learning techniques.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, coupled with proven experience in data pipeline building.
• Demonstrated experience with Open Computer Vision and developing interactive tools/APIs.
• Strong understanding of Smart Factory standards and systems, including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Industrial IoT protocols.
• Ability to independently work with the Data Analytics team to perform root-cause analysis and validate model impact against business KPIs.
