Data Engineer

Your mission

You will work on different projects to help Astrafy customers get the most out of their data. You will work on the business and technical sides of the customer usecase, bridging the gap between raw cloud infrastructure and business-ready insights.

On the business side:

• Architect Tailored Solutions: Translate client business goals into highly scalable, cost-efficient data platform designs combining Google Cloud’s power with open-source flexibility.
• Democratize Insights: Design and deploy modern exposition layers to keep insights accessible and cost-effective.
• Implement Data Governance: Set up automated data quality, lineage, monitoring frameworks and access management to guarantee high-trust data across business units.

On the technical side:

• Build Scalable Pipelines: Design and maintain robust ELT pipelines, generally powered by Apache Airflow and dbt Core, optimized for Google BigQuery.
• Automate with IaC: Provision and manage GCP infrastructure (Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions) using Terraform, adhering to clean, declarative GitOps workflows.
• Enforce Software Rigor: Set up robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) to automate testing, linting, and zero-downtime deployment of dbt and Airflow workflows.

In addition to these core responsibilities, we strongly value knowledge-sharing and community engagement. At Astrafy, we are active contributors on platforms like Medium, where we regularly publish articles to share our expertise, insights, and innovations, helping to grow both our community and industry presence.

As part of the role, the candidate will also be encouraged to write articles, offering valuable insights and thought leadership to enhance Astrafy's impact further and foster greater collaboration within our field.

Your profile

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Professional Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or software engineering roles, building and optimizing data pipelines.
• Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services for data storage, orchestration, and analytics; experience with other cloud providers is a plus.
• Team Player: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
• Continuous Learning: Curiosity to stay updated on emerging data technologies, practices, and frameworks, and to share knowledge across the organization.
• You speak English and French fluently, and a word of Spanish is a plus
