Founding AI Product Engineer | Bay Area | $400k

We're hiring a founding engineer to build the venture intelligence platform for one of Silicon Valley's leading venture capital firms.

You'll create the internal products, data infrastructure, and AI systems that help our investment team identify exceptional founders, evaluate companies faster, and make better decisions across every stage of the investment process.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. You'll combine product engineering, AI development, data engineering, systems design, and rapid experimentation to solve ambiguous, real-world problems. You'll work directly with experienced investors and former founders, CTOs, CPOs, and founding engineers who have built category-defining technology companies and backed many of today's leading AI businesses.

The Mission

Build the technical infrastructure that gives our firm an enduring advantage in discovering, evaluating, and winning the world's best startup investments.

Every system you build will influence investment decisions representing billions of dollars in capital.

Responsibilities:

You'll own a broad portfolio of internal products, including:

• AI-powered market intelligence systems
• Founder and company intelligence platforms
• Portfolio monitoring dashboards
• Market mapping and competitive analysis tools
• Deal sourcing and workflow automation
• Internal copilots and Slack agents
• Data pipelines connecting dozens of external sources
• Whatever else you believe will make us dramatically better investors

This list isn't a roadmap - it's a starting point. You'll have significant autonomy to identify opportunities and build the systems that create the greatest leverage.

Responsibilities:

• 2+ years of experience shipping production software in a startup environment
• Strong Python experience and comfort with modern cloud infrastructure
• Experience building user-facing AI products powered by LLMs—not simply integrating APIs, but designing, evaluating, debugging, and improving AI systems in production
• Experience working with APIs and messy, real-world datasets
• Strong product instincts and the ability to move quickly with minimal direction

You also have a genuine fascination with startups. You've worked inside one, followed the ecosystem closely, or naturally gravitated toward understanding how businesses are built—not just how software is written.
