The School of Engineering and & Computing at the American International University in Kuwait comprises the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The School offers Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Scope of Work
The Dean of the School of Engineering & Computing provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to advance AIU’s engineering programs. The Dean oversees academic quality, faculty development, accreditation, research and innovation, and operational effectiveness, fostering excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management for the School of Engineering, including oversight of full-time and adjunct faculty, academic programs, and administrative operations.
- Oversee all engineering and computing degree programs, including Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
- Lead curriculum development, course scheduling, program assessment, and continuous improvement of degree offerings to ensure academic excellence and market relevance.
- Manage the School’s budget, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
- Drive faculty recruitment, mentoring, performance review, and professional development.
- Promote a culture of research and scholarship across the School; support faculty and student research activities.
- Maintain and engage the Industry Advisory Committee to align programs with industry needs and employer expectations.
- Lead and coordinate accreditation efforts and quality assurance activities (institutional and programmatic), including familiarity with ABET and other relevant accreditation frameworks.
- Ensure the School’s website and public communications accurately reflect programs, achievements, and student opportunities.
- Foster industry and community partnerships, internships, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Represent the School in university leadership meetings and contribute to institution-wide strategic initiatives.
- Support infrastructure development, laboratory enhancements, and academic resources.
- Engage with industry partners and advisory boards to drive applied research and external collaboration.
- Oversee program review, learning outcomes assessment, and academic quality assurance.
- Promote student success, retention, progression, and graduate employability through data-informed academic leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate shall demonstrate experience in professional and academic positions, as well as a strong record in teaching and outstanding academic achievements at the international level. The candidate is expected to demonstrate ongoing contributions in their field of specialization through published research in recognized international scientific journals, as well as participation in exhibitions, conferences, and symposiums, in addition to possessing the following degrees, qualifications, and professional experience:
- Ph.D. or equivalent from a recognized university.
- The rank of professor in one of the School's disciplines.
- A record of excellence in teaching and research appropriate to the rank of professor in one of the School's disciplines.
- Leadership qualities and proven research background in one of the School's disciplines.
- A clear vision for developing higher education in general and for the School in particular.
- Full familiarity with the credit hour and academic year (semester) system.
- Distinguished managerial experience in the affairs of higher education, preferably at the level of a college dean in a reputable university.
- Experience with the standards of program accreditation by specialized commissions at national education institutions.
- Acumen in the area of human resources and administrative and financial concepts, practices, policies, and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with large sectors of a diverse community.
- Experience in communicating with universities, professional and academic institutions, associations, unions, companies and business administration institutions, and other institutions within the field of education and research.
- Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Arabic (spoken and written) is a plus.
- Experience working within American, American-style, or internationally accredited higher education systems is preferred.
