Assistant AI Engineer

(Full-Time | Hybrid | Charlotte, NC)

Digital Kings Networking is hiring an Assistant AI Engineer to help build internal AI systems, workflow automations, and agent based tools that support our marketing, SEO, client delivery, and internal operations.

This role is focused on building real systems, not just using AI tools at a surface level. You’ll work directly with our Senior AI Engineer to help create workflows, agents, and internal tools that reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and help the company scale faster.

This is a Charlotte, NC only position. The schedule is hybrid, with 4 days in office and 1 day remote. You must be able to reliably work in Charlotte.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist our Senior Engineer with designing and improving AI driven automation systems across the business. Systems and tools may include but not limited too:
• AI agent based internal operations
• n8n workflow automation
• Marketing, Design, and Sales client delivery technical support
• Internal reporting and process automation
• Supabase
• OpenAI and Claude APIs
• Google Drive
• Notion
• Zoho CRM
• Meta Business Suite and related APIs
• Railway or similar deployment platforms
• Develop API integrations, webhooks, and data flows between tools
• Use Claude Code, Codex, or similar AI coding tools to assist with development
• Help turn messy business needs into working technical systems
• Review workflow runs, logs, errors, and system behavior during testing
• Create clear documentation so systems can be understood, maintained, and improved
• Build reusable systems that can support multiple clients, teams, or workflows
• Learn existing DKN AI systems over time while helping build new agents, workflows, and internal tools

Qualifications:

• Experience building automation systems using AI and modern workflow tools
• Strong working knowledge of:
• n8n or similar workflow automation platforms (Make, Zapier)
• Supabase or similar backend/database platforms
• OpenAI API, Claude API, or similar LLM APIs
• AI agents, agent workflows, or multi step AI automations
• Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar AI coding tools
• Comfortable working with:
• REST APIs
• Java and/or Python
• GitHub or similar version control workflows
• Able to document systems clearly in plain English
• Strong portfolio and/or GitHub showing real builds
• Ability to think in systems and optimize workflows end-to-end

Experience working with or automating platforms like:

• Hermes agent or Openclaw
• multi agent orchestration tools such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar
• FastAPI, Python backend development, or API based tools
• Next.js, React, TypeScript, or frontend/internal dashboard work
• Railway, Vercel, Render, or similar deployment platforms
• Google Drive API, Zoho CRM, Meta Graph API, or Notion API
• Building internal tools for real business teams
• Using AI coding agents to ship actual working projects
• Ability to show working demos, GitHub projects, Loom walkthroughs, or portfolio examples

What We Are Not Looking For:

• We are not looking for someone whose only experience is prompting ChatGPT.
• We are not looking for someone whose AI experience is limited to talking about RAG, vector databases, or AI buzzwords without showing real builds.
• We are not looking for someone who cannot show project work, explain what they built, or document how their systems work.
• You will not be expected to own current production systems immediately. You will learn them over time while primarily helping our Senior Engineer build new AI workflows, agents, and internal tools.
