Indexed description

Korro’s Technology and Innovation AI group translates applied research into product capabilities that directly impact pediatric care. Working at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, software engineering, and healthcare innovation, we transform advanced AI concepts into reliable, safe, and clinically meaningful functionality for children, families, therapists, and care providers.

In this role, the Lead Agentic Systems Engineer will drive the design, development, and productization of agentic AI capabilities within the Korro platform. The objective is to build intelligent, context-aware product functionality that can reason over relevant information, orchestrate workflows, support therapy-related decision-making, and help deliver more personalized, adaptive, and scalable care experiences.

A core responsibility is to translate emerging agentic AI patterns into robust product features. This includes designing AI agents and agentic workflows that interact with Korro’s clinical, behavioral, sensor, and therapy-related data; integrating these systems into user-facing product experiences; defining evaluation and monitoring approaches; and ensuring that agentic behavior remains safe, explainable, auditable, and aligned with clinical and ethical requirements.

Working within the AI and Computer Vision group, the role requires close collaboration with engineers, AI researchers, medical experts, product teams, data scientists, and external partners.

While the focus is not primarily on training foundation models, the ideal candidate has a deep practical understanding of modern AI systems, LLM-based agents, multimodal AI, software architecture, evaluation frameworks, and human-in-the-loop product workflows. They are highly hands-on, technically rigorous, and capable of turning fast-moving AI developments into dependable product functionality.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership, deep technical execution, product thinking, systems design expertise, and a strong commitment to safe, responsible AI in a pediatric healthcare context.

Responsibilities in brief

  • Lead the design and development of agentic AI capabilities within the Korro product, including context-aware assistants, workflow orchestration, therapy support functionality, and AI-driven personalization features.
  • Translate clinical, therapeutic, and product needs into reliable agentic system designs that create meaningful value for children, families, therapists, and care providers.
  • Build robust, scalable, and maintainable agentic architectures that can interact with Korro’s product systems, clinical data, behavioral data, computer vision outputs, and therapy-related workflows.
  • Design and implement AI agents that can reason over multimodal and longitudinal data, support interpretation of therapy progression, and assist users through safe, explainable, and clinically appropriate interactions.
  • Establish best practices for agentic system architecture, product integration, evaluation, monitoring, observability, safety, and human-in-the-loop control.
  • Define and implement guardrails that ensure reliability, auditability, data protection, security, and responsible AI usage in a pediatric healthcare context.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, AI researchers, medical experts, product managers, UX designers, data scientists, and external partners to translate AI capabilities into dependable product functionality.
  • Develop evaluation methods for agentic product features, including correctness, usefulness, safety, robustness, clinical appropriateness, and user experience quaulity.
  • Stay current with advances in agentic AI, LLM systems, multimodal AI, tool use, AI evaluation, and applied healthcare AI, translating relevant developments into practical product improvements at Korro.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship for engineers working on AI-enabled product capabilities.

Education / Certification Requirements

  • Masster’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field is required.
  • A PhD or equivalent experience in AI, software systems, human-computer interaction, digital health, or a related discipline is beneficial.
  • Relevant certifications or demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms, MLOps, AI engineering, security, privacy, or healthcare technology are a plus.

Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, applied machine learning, platform engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Proven experience designing and building production-grade AI-enabled product functionality, ideally involving LLMs, agentic workflows, multimodal systems, personalization, or decision-support features.
  • Strong practical understanding of LLMs, agentic AI patterns, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, workflow orchestration, multimodal AI, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Experience integrating AI systems into real product environments, including user-facing workflows, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, permissions, observability, and production operations.
  • Strong software architecture skills, including distributed systems, API design, system integration, cloud-native architectures, testing, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Ability to design safe and reliable human-in-the-loop product experiences, including escalation paths, audit trails, explainability, permissions, and failure handling.
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, and responsible AI principles, ideally in healthcare, life sciences, digital therapeutics, or another regulated environment.
  • Hands-on programming experience, preferably in Python and modern backend or AI engineering stacks.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to distinguish between promising AI prototypes and systems that are reliable, safe, and valuable enough for real-world deploymnet.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English.
