Ph.D. Position in Socialising Large Language Models: Real-World Integration of Emotionally Intelligent and Vision-Assisted AI Robotic Systems
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a Full-Time PhD position under the guidance of Prof. Rakesh Kumar Sidharthan.
About the Project
Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown remarkable capabilities in language understanding and conversational intelligence, yet most remain limited to virtual environments. This research project aims to bridge the gap between AI and the physical world by developing emotionally intelligent and vision-assisted robotic systems powered by LLMs. The project focuses on enabling LLMs to perceive environments, understand human emotions, and interact naturally through speech, computer vision, gestures, and robotic embodiment. By integrating conversational AI, emotional intelligence, multimodal sensing, and human–robot interaction, the research aims to create socially adaptive robotic companions capable of providing real-world assistance and engaging in meaningful human interactions.
