About Highwood
Highwood Emissions Management is on a mission to make industrial emissions transparency the new default. Since launching in 2020, our team of engineers, scientists, and policy experts has helped energy producers representing 10% of global oil & gas output slash methane and carbon emissions. And we’ve helped them earn OGMP 2.0 Gold Standard certification faster and at lower cost.
We operate like a high-growth startup: rapid experimentation, continuous learning, and measurable impact. You’ll tackle complex climate challenges alongside industry pioneers, supported by a culture of respect, curiosity, and a good dose of fun. The pace is brisk and the problems are tough, but the rewards—professional growth, real-world impact, and equity in our success—are big.
If you thrive in ambiguity, value collaboration, and want your Monday morning to matter, let’s talk.
Highwood Emissions Management (Highwood) is an equal opportunity employer working to enable diversity in the workforce. We welcome all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. We also value diversity of worldview, experience, and perspective.
Your Mission
Own Highwood’s Data & Insights portfolio end to end. You’ll discover and deliver the benchmarks, datasets, intelligence reports, analytics, and decision-support tools that create real value for our customers, open new accounts, strengthen renewals, and build an enduring competitive advantage for Highwood. Working closely with our consulting team, R&D, and Engineering, and under the direction of the Director of Product, you’ll translate deep domain knowledge and messy data signals into products that empower our experts and our customers alike.
AI is central to this role. You’ll shape and own the portfolio’s AI direction in partnership with the Director of Product; designing expert feedback loops that capture and compound value, and making sharp calls on where to be deterministic and where to be probabilistic. Conventional BI dashboards alone won’t cut it.
What you’ll do (high-level):
- Data & Insights product management: Own the portfolio from problem definition through discovery to delivery. Investigate benchmarks, curated public and private datasets, intelligence reports, analytics, dashboards, and emissions-mitigation enablement features. Maintain a clear, prioritized backlog with well-defined acceptance criteria, and own data quality, ingestion, and lifecycle for the datasets that power your features.
- AI strategy & delivery: Set and ship the portfolio’s AI direction and AI-native features against outcomes defined with the Director of Product. Build expert feedback loops into the product to capture user signal, structure it, and prove the added value.
- IP discovery & digitization: Run structured discovery to surface reusable expertise, methodology, and analytical frameworks. Prioritize the consulting workflows most amenable to productization and translate that expertise into shipped features that reduce repetitive work and speed solution delivery.
- Stakeholder communication: Engage experts to understand needs, validate assumptions, and gather feedback. Communicate portfolio goals, roadmap, and progress clearly to the Director of Product, Consulting leads, Marketing, and Sales and ensure the people who give feedback know they’ve been heard.
- Strategy & improvement: Contribute to the Data & Insights roadmap and longer-term vision, keep it refreshed with market and customer evidence, and stay current on AI/ML tooling, data products, and emissions analytics to find points of differentiation across EIP.
About You
Background & experience
- Education or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as business, computer science, data science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years in product management for engineering, scientific, finance, or other data-intensive software.
- Demonstrated experience shipping AI-powered and AI-native product features. For example, designing AI feedback loops that capture user feedback and prove the added value, and structuring AI-native interfaces that weigh which elements should be deterministic vs. probabilistic.
- Hands-on experience prototyping, developing, and maintaining products such as benchmarks, intelligence reports, analytics, or decision-support tools.
- Familiarity with the upstream and midstream oil & gas industry and/or emissions management is highly valued.
Skills & traits
- Product discovery: You discover problems worth solving, facilitate solution discussions, and lead prototyping and risk mitigation, internally and with customers, to develop compelling solutions for Highwood’s market.
- AI product fluency: You’ve shipped AI-powered features in production, implemented expert feedback loops, and show good judgment on where a deterministic vs. probabilistic approach fits best.
- Data product fluency: You bring a ‘data as a product’ mindset (who consumes it, what problem it solves, what breaks if it changes), understand data quality, lineage, and provenance, and manage to security and sensitivity concerns rather than around them. You’re ready to work in the tension between pre- and post-AI analytics products.
- Analytical & problem-solving skills: You prioritize features and scope data products on business value and customer evidence, and you’re comfortable in ambiguous, novel problem spaces.
- Domain familiarity & translation: You apply knowledge of oil & gas, emissions reduction, and regulatory/reporting obligations to find solutions that create value for operators.
- Stakeholder management: You manage relationships across customer users, influencers and buyers, internal and third-party experts, and leaders, and navigate competing priorities with ease.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; you can explain data-intensive or AI-driven concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and you’re ready to use visual, audio, and written forms.
- Strategic thinking: You align the roadmap with company priorities and market signals and contribute to the longer-term portfolio vision.
- Technical acumen: You have a firm understanding of data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and AI product development; enough to partner well with engineering and make informed trade-offs.
- Adaptability: You’re comfortable in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where scope evolves, and you can reprioritize without losing strategic coherence.
