Copilot Studio Technical SME/Senior Developer

We are seeking an experienced Copilot Studio Technical Lead / SME to support the maturation of Copilot Studio and AI delivery capabilities within a large Government organisation. This role will play a critical part in ensuring quality delivery across Power Platform, AI agent development, governance, and enterprise-scale adoption of Copilot Studio solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the establishment of enterprise AI capabilities, working across multiple workstreams including solution delivery, governance, security, architecture, vendor management, and capability uplift.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the embedded Copilot Studio Technical SME within the Power Platform team, providing hands-on expertise across design, development, testing, and implementation activities.
• Support the maturation of Copilot Studio and AI delivery models, including internal, vendor, and hybrid delivery pathways.
• Establish and operationalise Copilot Studio agent delivery as a standard Power Platform capability.
• Deliver scalable, maintainable, and reusable AI agent solutions aligned to enterprise delivery practices.
• Provide specialist expertise in conversational design, prompt engineering, orchestration, and AI-driven solution patterns.
• Develop reusable standards, reference architectures, and delivery patterns through the Power Platform Centre of Excellence.
• Support risk, issue, dependency, and priority management with a focus on AI-specific considerations such as hallucinations, data exposure, compliance, and responsible AI practices.
• Collaborate with Architects, Security, and Governance stakeholders to ensure alignment with IS18, ISMS, data classification, and identity and access management requirements.
• Advise on Copilot Studio governance, guardrails, monitoring, auditing, and knowledge source management.
• Support testing, deployment, operational readiness, and transition to BAU support models.
• Provide technical assurance and quality oversight of vendor-delivered Copilot Studio solutions.
• Coach and mentor internal teams to uplift capability across Copilot Studio development, prompt engineering, AI design patterns, monitoring, and optimisation.

About You
You will bring strong experience as a Copilot Studio Technical Lead, Solution Architect, or Technical SME, working across complex, multi-stream technology initiatives, with the ability to manage enterprise AI delivery, governance requirements, vendor engagement, and stakeholder relationships.

Essential Experience

• Extensive experience delivering solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Power Platform.
• Strong expertise in enterprise AI agent delivery, conversational design, and prompt engineering.
• Demonstrated experience establishing governance frameworks, service models, and delivery practices for AI solutions.
• Experience transitioning AI initiatives from proof-of-concept to production-ready enterprise services.
• Strong understanding of integration patterns, APIs, connectors, and enterprise platforms.
• Experience working with security, compliance, and risk frameworks within large organisations.
• Proven ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business areas.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and capability uplift.

• Operating model, support model, and service design experience.
• Experience within Queensland Government or similarly large and complex organisations.
