Role: AI Engineer

Location: Brisbane CBD, 5x in the office

Duration: Contract until Dec 2026, possible extension

Hours: 40 hrs/week

About The Role

We are seeking two AI Engineers to work with a large public sector organisation on a high-impact program delivering practical AI solutions that improve decision-making, automate document-heavy workflows, and uplift enterprise AI capability. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building production-grade AI services.

Responsibilities

You’ll design, build and deploy AI solutions end-to-end, including ingestion, orchestration, inference, integration into business systems, and operationalisation.

• Develop and deploy advanced AI across platforms such as Databricks, AWS Bedrock, and Microsoft AI platforms
• Build automated review solutions for unstructured documents (summarisation, classification, information extraction)
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), document intelligence, and strong MLOps / LLMOps practices

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade AI and data solutions in Azure and AWS cloud environments with strong governance/privacy considerations
• Hands-on capability with Databricks, Python, SQL, and modern cloud data/AI services
• Experience implementing document extraction pipelines and RAG architectures
• Solid understanding of LLMs/SLMs, evaluation approaches, and integrating models via APIs
• Strong delivery discipline using CI/CD, plus experience monitoring and optimising cost, latency, and reliability in production
