About the role

As an AI Engineer, you will build and ship AI capabilities, models, APIs, tools, and integrations that power Bridge's platform. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and our in-house capital teams to make AI genuinely useful for the people doing the work: underwriters sizing a hotel construction loan, servicing managers running draws, and capital markets teams placing deals across our network of 100+ lenders. You'll do it with a high bar for quality, transparency, and sound judgment, because real money and real businesses are on the other end.

You'll measure success by what gets adopted and what it changes: faster closings, cleaner servicing, better decisions. This role is based in New York City.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize integrations between frontier AI models and Bridge's lending systems, data, and workflows
• Build the SDKs, APIs, internal tools, and documentation that let the rest of engineering ship AI-powered features quickly
• Partner with underwriting, servicing, and capital markets stakeholders to understand their needs, prototype solutions, and iterate fast on real feedback
• Ship production-grade code and features with a bias toward speed, simplicity, and measurable impact on closings, servicing, and decisions

Qualifications & Skills

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM field, OR 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
2. Experience working with large language models, generative AI, or agentic systems, whether in research, production, or applied engineering
3. Familiarity with fintech, lending, or other regulated environments (finance, real estate, insurance) is a plus
4. Strong product sense: the ability to turn ambiguous stakeholder needs into concrete technical solutions
5. A track record of writing clean, maintainable, high-performance code under real deadlines
6. Sharp problem-solving instincts and genuine curiosity; you like hard, ambiguous challenges
7. Clear communication; you can explain complex technical ideas to non-technical partners without losing them
8. Exposure to AI safety, evals, red-teaming, or responsible AI deployment
9. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), or API orchestration
10. Contributions to open-source AI projects or developer tools
