You will need to reside within 50 miles of our Corporate Headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ as this role has the option of hybrid or onsite.

Job Summary

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way businesses work, and Consumer Cellular is looking for an AI Engineer who wants to help build that future.

As an AI Engineer, you'll work alongside business leaders, software engineers, data professionals, and executive leadership to design and build intelligent solutions that improve the experience for our employees and customers. You'll help develop AI-powered applications, machine learning models, and intelligent decision-support tools that empower our frontline teams to provide exceptional service.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has a strong educational foundation in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Computer Science and is excited to apply those skills in a real-world business environment. We value curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn just as much as prior experience.

You'll have the opportunity to work directly with our CIO and experienced technology leaders while helping shape how AI is used throughout Consumer Cellular.

Key Responsibilities

AI Solution Development

  • Design, build, test, and deploy AI-powered applications and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Develop machine learning models that improve business operations and customer experiences.
  • Build AI assistants and decision-support tools that help frontline employees serve customers more effectively.
  • Assist in developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications using enterprise knowledge.
  • Experiment with Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve real business problems.
  • Participate in prompt engineering, model evaluation, and AI optimization activities.

Business Partnership

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges.
  • Learn how business processes work today while identifying opportunities where AI can improve them.
  • Participate in discovery sessions with business teams to gather requirements.
  • Help prototype innovative AI solutions for various departments.
  • Translate technical concepts into language that business users can understand.

Software Engineering

  • Develop clean, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with agile development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Build APIs and integrations supporting AI applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within AI-powered applications.

Learning & Innovation

  • Stay current on advancements in:
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Machine Learning
    • Large Language Models
    • Generative AI
    • Prompt Engineering
    • Intelligent Agents
  • Research emerging AI technologies and share ideas with the team.
  • Continuously expand technical skills through experimentation and professional development.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Data Engineers, and business leaders.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on improving employee and customer experiences.
  • Contribute ideas that help reimagine business processes using AI.
  • Support the implementation of enterprise AI initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree is a plus but not required.
  • 0–3 years of professional software engineering or AI experience.
  • Internship, research, academic, or personal project experience involving Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
  • Experience building AI, machine learning, or software projects through school, internships, hackathons, or open-source contributions.
  • A passion for solving business problems through technology.
  • Professional experience is not required if you can demonstrate strong technical capability through projects, research, or coursework.

Pay & Benefits Data (in accordance with the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act)

  • Minimum Salary: $111,300
  • Maximum Salary: $161,700

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
