Senior DevOps Engineer
Indexed description
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our AWS cloud infrastructure, drive our FinOps discipline, and ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and cost-efficient. This is a hands-on role with real ownership — you will architect solutions, automate operations, and work closely with R&D teams to deliver reliable infrastructure that powers SolarEdge products worldwide. We offer a hybrid model of work - two days at the office.
AWS Cloud Infrastructure
Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available AWS infrastructure across multi-account environments.
- Own core AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, Route53, CloudFront, and CloudWatch
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform — reusable modules, remote state, workspaces, and policy-as-code.
- Architect secure, well-governed AWS environments using Organizations, SCPs, and Control Tower patterns.
- Ensure infrastructure security through IAM least-privilege policies, VPC design, encryption, and compliance controls.
Build budget alerting, cost anomaly detection, and automated guardrails to prevent cloud spend overruns.
Work with engineering teams to embed cost-awareness into architecture and development decisions.
Kubernetes & Containerization
- Provision, operate, and maintain EKS clusters for production and non-production workloads.
- Provision, operate, and maintain On-Prem Rancher cluster and non-production workloads
- Manage Helm chart deployments, configure autoscaling (HPA/VPA/Karpenter), and enforce RBAC and network policies.
- Support containerization efforts and ensure Docker best practices across development and production environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, integrating automated testing, SAST/SCA scanning, and deployment gates.
- Automate operational tasks — provisioning, patching, scaling, backups, and incident remediation — using Python and Bash.
- Build and maintain the observability stack: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, and alerting pipelines.
- Define and monitor SLOs/SLIs, own incident response runbooks, and contribute to post-mortem culture.
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and security gaps.
Must-Have
- 3–5 years of hands-on DevOps or cloud engineering experience in production AWS environments.
- Strong AWS expertise: EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Cost Explorer — with the ability to design end-to-end solutions.
- Proven Terraform skills: writing modules, managing state, and enforcing infrastructure standards.
- Demonstrated FinOps experience: cost tagging, rightsizing, and budget governance.
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience: EKS, On-prem rancher rke2, Helm, RBAC, autoscaling, Vault and network policies.
- CI/CD pipeline experience with GitLab or equivalent; familiarity with SAST/SCA tooling.
- Scripting proficiency in Python and/or Bash for automation and operational tooling.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, load balancing, VPC peering, TLS.
- Experience with ArgoCD, GitOps workflows, or progressive delivery strategies.
- Familiarity with Pulumi or AWS CDK as IaC alternatives.
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices: secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager), container image scanning, and compliance-as-code.
- AWS certifications: Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or FinOps Practitioner (FinOps Foundation).
- Experience with observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Interest in GenAI-powered automation and developer tooling.
