Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
We are seeking an experienced candidate to be the Lead Superintendent for the balance of plant underground installations on the project in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide onsite leadership for underground commodity installation activities ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs field superintendents and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance. Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, you will resolve constructability issues, support the development of work scopes, and ensure effective use of automation tools and project procedures. You will play a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution. #LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership / Supervision
- Lead and direct field supervision and subcontractor teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of daily work.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and coordination, ensuring alignment with project expectations.
- Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
- Participate in developing scopes of work, budgets, and contract formation/negotiation.
- Oversees, coordinates and reports field activities of construction subcontracts
- Engage proactively in team development through continuous performance management processes, competency assessments, and continuous feedback.
- Conducts Superintendent/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develops and monitors 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
- Develop corrective plan to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
- Verifies that all material, tools and other resources needed to support the 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
- Conducts foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning
- Supervises direct hire projects general foreman and foreman.
- Maintains a daily log for site records.
- Reviews all craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Monitors supplier Technical Service Representative (supplier) daily log and reviews/approves their time sheets.
- Coordinates assigned craft/subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other disciplines.
- Conducts daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and daily workplan at the beginning of shift.
Planning / Productivity
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
- Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel
forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
- Participates in weekly cost and schedule reviews with senior management.
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
Safety & Quality
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience .
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Previous experience delivering underground commodity installations as a Field Superintendent.
- Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft and professional staff.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Demonstrated communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
- Demonstrated understanding of industry / International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
- Experience using applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
- Competent in supervising heavy lift activities.
