Project Overview:
Bechtel's Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. Job Summary:
In this role, you will direct and organize direct hire work including planning, safety, quality and technical activities on a complex project. As field supervision you will ensure direct hire work is planned to coincide with the overall project schedule, work methods are executed safely with quality, and the work is within budget. #LI-ME1
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct assigned piping craft activities, including daily work planning, schedule alignment, work review, productivity monitoring, and safe execution of assigned scope.
- Determine workforce, material, tool, and equipment needs; oversee construction methods, work plans, Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) requirements, installation work packages, quantity reporting, and Level 4/Level 5 schedule inputs for assigned piping work.
- Coordinate subcontractor field activities, construction interfaces, and stakeholder requirements to support schedule, cost, quality, and execution commitments.
- Ensure work is performed using current approved design documents and that design changes, specifications, procedures, budgets, schedules, ES&H requirements, quality standards, and the Zero Accident Philosophy are implemented in assigned operations.
- Coordinate with Construction Field Engineering, Design, Quality, Commissioning, subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals to resolve constructability issues, technical questions, testing requirements, and field engineering interfaces.
- Oversee piping installation means and methods, material and equipment installation, technical acceptance, testing readiness, and effective use of applicable automation tools and field systems.
- Support team development through coaching, performance feedback, competency development, and engagement with craft and field supervision personnel.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Practical field supervision knowledge of piping installation and related work activities, including welding, NDE, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement, turnover, clean construction requirements, and applicable industry or international codes and standards.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate up to approximately 50 craft personnel through foremen and general foremen, including setting daily priorities, monitoring productivity, supporting safe execution, and reinforcing quality workmanship.
- Strong understanding of construction planning and field execution processes, including Level 4 and Level 5 schedules, installation work packages, quantity reporting, labor forecasting, material flow, tool and equipment readiness, and cost and schedule performance.
- Demonstrated judgment in evaluating field conditions, resolving construction issues, coordinating engineering and constructability solutions, and applying company and project procedures related to ES&H, quality, field engineering, document control, and approved work methods.
- Ability to build productive working relationships across construction, engineering, quality, commissioning, subcontractors, and craft supervision while mentoring less-experienced personnel and supporting competency development, performance feedback, and continuous learning.
