Project Overview:

Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility - a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. Job Summary:

The Preservation Field Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing technical oversight of equipment and material preservation activities throughout the project lifecycle. The role ensures equipment, systems, materials, and installed assets are protected from deterioration, damage, contamination, corrosion, environmental exposure, and loss of functionality prior to turnover and startup. The Preservation Field Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between engineering, construction, procurement, suppliers, quality, commissioning, and project management for preservation scope and supports planning, inspection, documentation, turnover, and issue resolution activities. #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities:

Preservation Program Management
• Implements and administers the project preservation program in accordance with project requirements, vendor recommendations, and industry best practices.
• Establishes preservation requirements for equipment, bulk materials, packaged systems, and installed assets.
• Ensures preservation requirements are incorporated into project execution, turnover, and commissioning plans.
• Maintains preservation procedures, standards, and execution guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Execution
• Reviews vendor documentation, preservation requirements, storage instructions, and equipment maintenance recommendations.
• Establishes preservation requirements for rotating equipment, static equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation, packaged systems, and associated materials.
• Supports resolution of preservation-related technical issues, deficiencies, and nonconformances.
• Provides technical guidance to construction, warehouse, and commissioning organizations regarding preservation requirements.

Inspection and Compliance
• Conducts field inspections and surveillance to verify compliance with preservation requirements.
• Verifies preservation activities including lubrication, environmental controls, desiccant management, protective coatings, temporary heating, humidity control, equipment rotation, and storage conditions.
• Identifies deficiencies and drives corrective actions before equipment degradation occurs.
• Supports audits, readiness reviews, and quality assessments related to preservation activities.

Planning and Coordination
• Develops preservation schedules and inspection frequencies aligned with project execution and turnover plans.
• Coordinates preservation activities with procurement, warehousing, construction, quality, commissioning, and startup organizations.
• Ensures preservation responsibilities are clearly assigned throughout project phases.
• Supports workface planning and readiness reviews related to preservation requirements.

Documentation and Turnover
• Maintains preservation records, inspection reports, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
• Ensures preservation documentation supports system turnover and commissioning requirements.
• Verifies preservation requirements remain current as equipment transitions from storage through installation and turnover.
• Supports turnover package development and readiness reviews.

Risk Management
• Identifies preservation risks that could impact equipment reliability, startup readiness, warranty compliance, or project cost.
• Develops mitigation strategies for long-term storage, delayed installation, environmental exposure, and schedule-driven risks.
• Escalates emerging preservation issues to project leadership and affected stakeholders.
• Supports warranty protection and vendor compliance requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience [OR] 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong knowledge of equipment preservation principles for rotating equipment, static equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation, packaged equipment, and bulk materials.
• Understanding of corrosion control, environmental protection, storage requirements, lubrication systems, humidity control, and contamination prevention.
• Familiarity with vendor preservation requirements, warranty requirements, and industry preservation standards.
• Experience supporting preservation programs on large industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, energy, mining, chemical, or M&T projects.
• Ability to interpret vendor manuals, engineering specifications, preservation procedures, and quality requirements.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, equipment storage, installation, turnover, commissioning, and startup processes.
• Experience maintaining technical records, inspection documentation, turnover packages, and compliance reporting.
• Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with construction management systems, completions systems, and digital inspection tools.
• Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with equipment reliability and operational readiness.
