Role/Title: Senior Platform Engineer - 8- 12 Years

Job Description:

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal developer platforms used by multiple teams across the bank, with a focus on reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Own and evolve the central engineering toolchain including GitHub (Enterprise), GitHub Copilot, GitHub Actions, and GitHub hosted runners or GitHub Cloud, ensuring consistent patterns and guardrails
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code for GCP (e.g., Terraform, Deployment Manager, or equivalent)
• Develop automation and tooling (preferably in Python or Java) to streamline environment provisioning, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and platform operations
• Standardise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for build, test, security scanning, and deployment across microservices and batch workloads
• Collaborate with security, risk, and architecture teams to embed compliance, secrets management, policy as code, and secure defaults into the platform
• Monitor platform performance, reliability, and cost; implement observability (logging, metrics, traces) and proactive capacity and cost optimisation for GCP hosted workloads
• Act as a subject matter expert and internal consultant to application squads, supporting onboarding to the platform, troubleshooting complex issues, and promoting best practices in cloud native engineering
• Contribute to platform roadmaps, backlog grooming, and continuous improvement initiatives in line with the bank architecture standards and regulatory requirements

Required skills and experience

• Experience in software engineering or platform engineering, ideally within banking or regulated financial services
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java (or both), including building microservices, automation scripts, CLI tools, or platform services
• Hands on experience with GCP services
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, or similar), including authoring reusable modules, enforcing standards, and integrating IaC into CI/CD pipelines
• Practical experience with GitHub platforms: GitHub Enterprise / GitHub Cloud, GitHub Actions (multi stage pipelines, reusable workflows), and GitHub Copilot for developer productivity
• Strong understanding of DevOps and SRE practices: automation, continuous delivery, incident response, reliability engineering, and observability
• Experience working in a central platform or developer productivity team, providing shared services and patterns across multiple delivery squads
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE) and securing workloads in production
• Knowledge of security, risk, and compliance considerations specific to banks (e.g., data residency, segregation of duties, auditability, encryption, identity and access management)
