Job Description
We are seeking a Kubernetes Database Engineer to architect, deploy, and maintain database systems within Kubernetes environments. This role focuses on delivering resilient, scalable, and automated data platforms using cloud-native principles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deploying, operating, and tuning stateful database solutions on Kubernetes, with a focus on PostgreSQL
- Designing and implementing storage solutions, backup and recovery processes, replication mechanisms, and high availability/disaster recovery strategies
- Building and maintaining automation for database provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines
- Monitoring system health, performance, and reliability, and resolving issues across both database and Kubernetes layers
- Enforcing security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC), data encryption, secret management, and network policies
- Working closely with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and development teams to design and evolve database-as-a-service solutions
- Proven experience managing databases in Kubernetes environments
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production settings
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes concepts, including stateful workloads, storage classes, and operators
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Ansible
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
- Knowledge of backup/restore strategies, replication, and high availability architectures
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
- Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud-native environments
- Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams
