Cloud Engineer

Role Overview

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for building, operating, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and databases across public cloud environments. This role ensures high availability, security, scalability, and performance of cloud based systems while supporting business continuity and engineering productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or Azure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• Operate and maintain cloud databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and managed cloud DB services.

• Monitor cloud system performance, conduct capacity planning, and optimize resource utilization.

• Implement cloud security controls, including identity management, access policies, encryption, and compliance enforcement.

• Support cloud migration projects, including architecture design, environment setup, and workload transition.

• Troubleshoot cloud related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive service recovery.

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver cloud and database solutions aligned with business and engineering needs.

• Maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices for cloud and database operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields.

• 3–8 years of hands on experience in cloud engineering or cloud operations.

• Strong proficiency in AWS, GCP, or Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, security, and managed databases.

• Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and cloud database services (RDS, Cloud SQL, Aurora).

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch).

• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Go, or Bash.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals, VPC design, load balancing, DNS, and firewalls.

• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to analyze incidents and drive root cause resolution.

• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with global, cross functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud or database architecture design.

• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Engineer, or Azure Administrator.

• Experience with backup, recovery, replication, and high availability database configurations.

• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
