About the project

ANZ Bank is building a cloud-native Customer Support Platform on AWS to deliver faster, more reliable, and more scalable support experiences for its customers. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will own the build, automation, and reliability of the cloud infrastructure that powers this platform — working closely with backend engineers, SREs, and product teams in a regulated banking environment where security, compliance, and uptime are paramount.

What you'll do

• Design, provision, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation / CDK).
• Build and operate CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, automated, and frequent deployments.
• Containerize and orchestrate services (Docker, ECS/EKS/Kubernetes) and manage their lifecycle in production.
• Implement observability across the platform — logging, metrics, tracing, alerting (CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, or equivalent).
• Automate operational tasks and write tooling/scripts to reduce toil and improve developer productivity.
• Embed security and compliance into the pipeline (secrets management, IAM least-privilege, vulnerability scanning) in line with banking standards.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on service design, deployment strategy, performance, and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, and continuous improvement of system resilience.

Required skills & experience

• AWS Cloud: Solid hands-on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, RDS, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, etc.) and cloud architecture best practices.
• DevOps: Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, containerization and orchestration, and monitoring/observability.
• Coding: Proficiency in at least one programming language — Python, Node.js, Java, or Golang — for automation, tooling, and scripting.
• Backend understanding: Solid grasp of backend concepts — APIs/microservices, databases, networking, and how services are built, deployed, and operated in production.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and collaborative engineering practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and clear communication in a cross-functional team.

Nice to have

• Experience working in banking, financial services, or another regulated/enterprise environment.
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Professional).
• Kubernetes / EKS experience at scale.
• Exposure to SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets) and site reliability tooling.
• Experience with security and compliance frameworks relevant to financial services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of experience in DevOps / Cloud Engineering, with meaningful time on AWS.
