DevOps/Cloud Engineer (Hybrid – Charlotte, NC or Hartford, CT)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading insurance organization, is seeking an experienced DevOps/Cloud Engineer to join their Engineering & Systems (E&S) organization in either Charlotte, NC or Hartford, CT. This engineer will play a critical role in modernizing and automating the organization's cloud-based DevOps environment by eliminating manual deployment processes, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and driving infrastructure automation across enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will bring a strong Azure DevOps background, hands-on infrastructure experience, and a passion for building scalable automation solutions that improve release quality and efficiency. Experience of the right candidate:

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Automation.
• Strong experience building and maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience developing and maintaining YAML-based pipelines, including migrating Classic Pipelines to YAML.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, servers, deployment processes, and release management.
• Experience automating software deployment and release processes within enterprise environments.
• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Experience with database deployment automation using Liquibase is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with Helm charts and cloud-native deployment methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering teams.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive automation improvements with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:

• Design, build, and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines supporting enterprise applications.
• Identify manual deployment and operational processes and develop scalable automation solutions.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Convert existing Classic Azure DevOps pipelines into YAML-based pipelines.
• Automate database deployment processes, including SQL Server and Oracle implementations, utilizing Liquibase where applicable.
• Partner closely with software developers and the centralized DevOps organization to improve release quality and deployment efficiency.
• Support bi-weekly production releases while reducing manual intervention throughout the release lifecycle.
• Develop scripts and automation solutions to streamline deployment, infrastructure provisioning, and operational tasks.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures, deployment issues, and infrastructure-related challenges.
• Continuously improve DevOps processes, release automation, and overall engineering productivity across the Engineering & Systems organization.
• Collaborate across multiple technical teams to implement best practices for automation, infrastructure management, and cloud-based DevOps.
• Stay current on emerging DevOps technologies and leverage modern tooling, including AI-assisted development solutions, to improve engineering workflows.
