Operating within a highly regulated environment, the organisation is committed to delivering innovative solutions while maintaining the highest standards of security, governance, and operational resilience.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join a high-performing cloud platform team responsible for designing, building, and supporting modern AWS-based infrastructure environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, platform reliability, and security. The successful candidate will play a key role in building scalable cloud platforms, implementing Infrastructure as Code, and supporting secure software delivery pipelines.

Working closely with engineering, security, and operations teams, you will help deliver well-architected solutions that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and contributing to the evolution of cloud-native platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks for cloud provisioning, deployment, and management
  • Support cloud networking, security, and governance initiatives across AWS environments
  • Design and manage multi-account AWS architectures, landing zones, and cloud governance frameworks
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to build and optimise CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
  • Implement security best practices including IAM, encryption, key management, and access controls
  • Monitor platform health, performance, reliability, and availability across cloud environments
  • Support incident management, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis activities
  • Contribute to cloud architecture decisions and platform strategy initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement across automation, security, scalability, and operational processes
  • Work closely with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards

Key Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on AWS experience
  • Proven experience designing and supporting production-grade cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of AWS networking, security, identity management, and governance
  • Advanced networking knowledge including firewalls, DNS, load balancing, proxies, and network security
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and GitOps methodologies
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Go, or Shell
  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and KMS
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical teams

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience within financial services, fintech, insurance, or other regulated industries
  • Experience with multi-account AWS environments, Control Tower, and landing zone implementations
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust security architectures
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Dynatrace, or AWS-native services
  • Experience optimising cloud cost, performance, and operational efficiency
  • Exposure to cloud architecture and platform strategy initiatives
  • Participation in cloud engineering communities or open-source projects
