Team & Project Focus

This SRE team supports Machine Learning (ML) serving and pipelines at massive scale. The environment is high‑load, fast‑moving, and constantly evolving. The team is currently driving a major migration from a legacy stack to a next‑generation stack.

This role is not about building ML models. Instead, you’ll manage the plumbing of data protocols across microservices, ensuring reliability and scalability.

Key Project Goals

  • Migration Support: Assist in systematically moving users, technologies, and internal clients from legacy services to the new stack.
  • Toil & Ticket Mitigation: Categorize and resolve a high volume of tickets and novel bugs across both old and new services.
  • Documentation to Automation: Create clear playbooks and runbooks for self‑service, with the long‑term goal of transitioning manual processes into automation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The team values capability and mindset over tenure. Candidates from non‑traditional backgrounds, career switchers, and junior engineers (1–2 years out of school) are welcome—provided they demonstrate strong end‑to‑end execution.

Core Attributes

  • High Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex issues simply, from “5‑year‑old intern” clarity to deep technical dives.
  • Willingness to Learn: Comfort with ambiguity and novel bugs; proactive and inquisitive mindset.
  • Bias for Action: Bravery to jump in, experiment, fail fast, and fix.

Technical Requirements

  • Language Agnostic: Comfortable reading and reverse‑engineering code in Python, Java, C++, Go, Rust, etc.
  • Microservices Architecture: Understanding of how services interact, especially moving protocol buffers (protos).
  • Fast Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn bespoke internal tools
  • Nice‑to‑Haves: Experience with automation scripts or agentic workflows (not required).
