The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Software Developer to join an innovative technology business ahead of the launch of a brand-new software application for the architecture and building design sector.
Joining the team several months before the product launches, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the software, working alongside the development team during the final stages of development. This will enable you to gain an in-depth understanding of the application before it goes live, placing you in an excellent position to provide ongoing technical support, resolve issues, develop enhancements and contribute to the product's continued evolution after launch.

This role would suit a Computer Science graduate or junior developer looking for a varied position combining software development, problem-solving and technical support, with the opportunity to take ownership of a specialist software product from the very beginning of its journey while gaining valuable experience working with modern AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the development team during the final stages of product development.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the application's functionality, architecture and codebase.
- Assist with testing, validation and quality assurance ahead of launch.
- Investigate and resolve software bugs and technical issues.
- Provide application support following the product launch.
- Develop new features and enhancements in response to user feedback and business requirements.
- Work with AI-assisted development tools as part of the ongoing software development process.
- Contribute to the development of future AI-powered functionality within the application.
- Troubleshoot customer issues and identify effective technical solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to ongoing product improvements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to help shape future releases of the application.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Knowledge of Ruby or a willingness to learn Ruby.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
- A genuine interest in software development, emerging technologies and AI-assisted development.
- Experience with Ruby development.
- Knowledge of the SketchUp Ruby API.
- Experience developing plugins, extensions or desktop applications.
- JavaScript, HTML or CSS.
- Interest in architecture, engineering, sustainability or design software.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar tools as part of university projects, personal projects or commercial software development.

- Work alongside the development team during the final stages of delivery.
