Build & Release Engineer
Indexed description
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About The Role
We are looking for a Build & Release Engineer to own release cuts from our Git repositories, manage uprevs (dependency/firmware version updates), build and maintain our CI/CD pipelines, and administer build artifact management. You will also own our internal Release Management portal — the system where all build artifacts and binaries are tracked, managed, and released — as its primary engineer. This hands-on software engineering position demands robust coding proficiency alongside deep CI/CD expertise, as you will actively build and maintain a live application rather than just configuring pipelines.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end software releases, including release cuts, branching, tagging, versioning, and dependency management across multiple product lines.
- Build and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines, automating build, test, and deployment workflows while improving reliability.
- Manage the artifact lifecycle, including versioning, signing, storage, promotion, and traceability through Artifactory.
- Develop and enhance the internal Release Management portal, integrating CI/CD systems, artifact repositories, and release workflows.
- Partner with engineering, validation, and TPM teams to coordinate release readiness, resolve build issues, and drive successful releases.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, with strong coding ability in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite)
- Strong Git experience, including branching, tagging, and release workflows
- Experience with artifact management systems (e.g., JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, or equivalent)
- Experience designing, building, or maintaining internal tools or portals
- Strong troubleshooting skills across build, dependency, and release issues
- Front-end development (React, TypeScript) for internal tools
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Embedded/automotive release processes and ASPICE workflows
- Monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Kibana, Splunk)
- Issue tracking tools (Jira, Polarion, or similar)
