We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer with strong experience in AWS Cloud, Terraform, Python or Javascript to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successfully leading small teams of skilled software engineers and be comfortable guiding and motivating team members to achieve project goals.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex software systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features, and ensuring the quality and performance of the team's work through code reviews and testing. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and provide technical guidance to team members and participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of highly skilled Software Engineers.
  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean and efficient code.
  • Set and maintain high standards of coding best practice.
  • Ensure the quality and performance of the team's work through code reviews and testing
  • Translate end user needs to requirements using a lightweight agile design led methodology.
  • Lead design work and planning for user stories.
  • Sets and executes on the delivery of given tasks, delegating to the team where applicable.
  • Builds trusting relationships with team and colleagues, collaborating closely with team.
  • Communicates with clarity and precision in a concise format.
  • Working both independently and collaboratively within a team in an agile fashion.
  • Analysis, design and implementation of complex software solutions using customer focused design driven methodologies, delivered via public cloud.
  • Building domain expertise in Financial market content and LSEG systems.
  • Networking in the FinTech, big data and academic community through conferences, meetups and workshops – bringing cutting edge techniques and technology into business strategy.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5 years+ experience as a Software Developer or equivalent.
  • Diploma / Degree in Software Engineering / Computer Science / or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills and experience developing applications in NodeJS, Python or other relevant languages.
  • Strong skills and experience with web servers, databases and cloud-based services, preferably AWS.
  • Strong skills and experience developing and deploying containerised environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong skills and experience with CI/CD pipelines utilising infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible).
  • Experience developing and deploying micro services architectures.
  • Experience with administration of Linux operating systems and are comfortable with the CLI
  • Experience with front-end development frameworks (ReactJS, Vue, Angluar, etc.)
  • Critical thinking, value judgment and common sense over process.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Positive attitude to learning new skills and technologies.
