This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cloud and Hosting team at the University of Warwick and help build the future of both on premise and Cloud-hosted infrastructure.

We are seeking an individual to provide specialist technical expertise across an Azure Cloud technology platform. To lead on products, projects and tasks, across both physical infrastructure and cloud services. To work as part of a team of likeminded colleagues, to ensure that issues are resolved swiftly, technical challenges are addressed and project actions are delivered on time and services and data remain stable and highly available. To support and develop less experienced colleagues and be part of a high performing team with deep technical experience in current hosting technologies.
This position requires good experience with skills and technology, but also good exposure to working in medium to large sized enterprise environments, where communication, self-accountability and supporting a larger team has been part of a daily routine.
Duties and responsibilities
Working on digital support tasks:
- Respond to incidents and service requests, meeting SLA targets
- Provide excellent customer support with clear, user-focused communication
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating where required
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party suppliers
- Document solutions and maintain technical standards
- Ensure data security, availability and business continuity
- Monitor systems and respond to alerts and service issues
Improving IT outputs:
- Identify recurring issues and implement permanent solutions
- Recommend training and development opportunities for the team
- Raise and manage change requests and documentation
- Support lifecycle, risk and capacity management
- Promote standardised, scalable solutions
- Drive automation and orchestration to improve service delivery and incident response.
Specialist Technical Expertise:
- Design, implement and maintain private and public cloud platforms
- Resolve complex technical issues and lead technical improvements
- Automate infrastructure using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps CI/CD and Kubernetes
- Build and support scalable, resilient infrastructure
- Troubleshoot production issues and support incident resolution
- Document solutions and develop repeatable, automated processes
- Apply expertise in Azure virtualisation, containerisation and configuration management (Ansible/Puppet)
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and mentor junior team members
Person Specification
- Hold a Degree Level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience within a similar role within a medium to large organisation.
- Experience of providing Azure Cloud technical solutions which are focused on business outcomes and customer requirements.
- Specialist Knowledge of building and configuring Azure environments.
- Specialist Knowledge of both private and public Cloud platforms
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- In depth technical knowledge of product and service provision to ensure quality and value drive support
- ITIL Foundation V3/V4
- Azure Certification.
- Familiarity with Agile working practices
Please note that this is a key position to work within a busy team and a level of career experience and skill knowledge is required. This position will be working on a hybrid basis (c1 – 2 Days a week in Coventry) where Warwick offers modern offices and an excellent choice of Shops, Food, Leisure and Sports / Gym facilities on a large self contained campus.
