DevOps Engineer (Python, Bash, Kubernetes)

About the Role:

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with a strong Linux and automation background to help maintain, improve, and modernize our deployment and infrastructure tooling. This role is ideal for someone who started their career in software development or systems engineering and transitioned into DevOps, with extensive experience in scripting, Linux administration, and Kubernetes.

The primary focus of this position is automation, scripting, CI/CD, Linux system management, and supporting the transition of our platform to containerized environments. While cloud experience is a plus, this is primarily an on-premises infrastructure role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and improve automation scripts using Python, Bash, and/or Ruby/Perl.
• Plan and execute the migration of existing Perl-based automation to Python or Ruby.
• Manage and maintain Linux-based deployment and administration tools.
• Build and maintain Kickstart installations and automated provisioning for Rocky Linux-based environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and build automation processes.
• Automate operational tasks including deployments, upgrades, PostgreSQL backups/restores, and system maintenance.
• Manage operating system updates, security patching, system hardening, and compliance with security best practices.
• Troubleshoot Linux operating systems, authentication issues, software defects, and infrastructure-related problems.
• Support and maintain on-premises infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, storage, and networking components.
• Contribute to the migration of existing services to containerized environments using Kubernetes.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Linux Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong scripting expertise with Bash and at least one of: Python, Ruby, Perl
• Strong Linux administration experience, preferably with: Rocky Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS
• Experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Experience creating Kickstart or similar automated operating system installation processes.
• Experience with Linux system configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and hardening.
• Knowledge of RPM packaging and software deployment.
• Experience automating infrastructure and operational workflows.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL administration, backup, and restore processes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, authentication, deployment, and infrastructure issues.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Nice to Have:

• Docker and containerization experience.
• Networking knowledge (DNS, IP, routing, firewalls).
• Virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, Nutanix, or Hyper-V.
• LDAP and Active Directory experience.
• Cryptography, TLS/SSL certificates, and PKI knowledge.
• Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools used to improve engineering productivity.
• Previous software development experience before moving into DevOps.
