Lead or Senior Tax Analyst (Hybrid)

You will support the goal of maximizing the after-tax return of the group. Research complex issues arising from new business activity and legislative developments. May lead advanced tax systems improvements and process improvements to ensure that tax processes are effective. Participate in the professional trade tax committees and working groups. You will report to the Corporate Tax Senior Manager.
In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 50 miles of Madison, WI 53783.

Position Compensation Range:
$88,000.00 - $145,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
Assist
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, coordinates, oversee and review the most complex aspects of the tax compliance and tax provision processes.
- Research, model, and draft arguments of complex issues for tax audits and appeals, evaluate strengths of our position, and recommend whether to concede or negotiate issues.
- Identify and lead process improvement department projects based on best practices.
- Identify and recommend potential tax planning ideas.
- Analyze state and federal tax law changes including government rulings, regulations, notices, court cases, technical advice, and other government actions and recommend strategies to minimize the adverse impact of law changes.
- Assist management in analyzing and integrating data related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Assist departmental leadership in working with industry tax committees to determine the impacts of proposed changes on the industry and supports industry efforts to improve legislation or regulation.
- Assist adjacent tax areas with new or unusual issues that arise.
- Provide training to tax staff and develop ongoing internal and external relationships and information pipelines to be on leading edge of company and industry developments.
Requirements:
- CPA license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience preferred.
- Experience with GAAP and Statutory accounting.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing complex concepts related to taxation, insurance accounting, or related field.
- Experience working in the insurance industry preferred.
- Understanding of accounting, accounting systems, budget, or tax concepts.
- Demonstrated experience communicating complex financial information.
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-focused solutions or support.
- Demonstrated experience reflecting flexibility and problem-solving attributes.
