Role Owerview
We are looking for an experienced Kubernetes Platform Engineer to design, build, operate, and continuously improve our Kubernetes platforms across both Microsoft Azure (AKS) and our on-premises datacenter.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning the complete Kubernetes platform lifecycle—from architecture and cluster design to operations, security, reliability, observability, and FinOps. You should be comfortable designing, building, and operating Kubernetes clusters across both cloud and on-premises environments while defining platform standards and best practices.
Your contribution to achieving global safety, security, and sustainability:
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters in Azure (AKS) and on-premises environments.
- Own the day-to-day operation of Kubernetes clusters across development, test, and production environments.
- Implement and enforce Kubernetes security best practices, including RBAC, Network Policies, and workload isolation.
- Drive Kubernetes FinOps initiatives to optimize infrastructure costs, and establish cost visibility to help engineering teams manage their spend.
- Build and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and platform dashboards.
- Support incident response, troubleshoot complex platform issues, and drive root cause analysis and continuous service improvement.
The more points that apply to you, the more you can earn with us:
- Owning skills at least 3+ years’ work experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and/or self-managed Kubernetes clusters, planning, deploying, and operating Kubernetes clusters from the infrastructure layer upwards.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and operating production Kubernetes environments, experience with Kubernetes networking, storage, security, upgrades, and high availability.
- Strong Kubernetes administration and architecture knowledge, experience with container technologies and manifest packaging tools (Helm), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and automation scripting (Bash, Python, or Go), Kubernetes networking (e.g., Calico, Cilium), ingress, persistent storage, and load balancing, knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
- Familiarity with FinOps practices and Kubernetes cost-monitoring tools (e.g., Kubecost, OpenCost), CI/CD and GitOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or similar).
- Strong Linux administration skills, experience with virtualization platforms is an advantage.
- Architectural mindset with a passion for automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across infrastructure, development, security, and architecture teams.
- CKA and CKS certifications are an advantage; equivalent hands-on experience is equally valued.
- Completed studies in computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering or a comparable professional qualification
- Fluent English required; additional languages like German are a plus
- Believing that the whole is more than the sum of its parts: a.k.a. teamwork is essential to move forward
- Being eager to share knowledge across departments and being open to acquire knowledge from others too
- Taking education and self-development as a fundamental part of your routine
- Thinking that a workplace is not just a place to work, but a social environment as well
In return, we are offering you:
