The organization is modernizing its architecture by reducing technical debt, adopting cloud and hybrid solutions, and strengthening security and regulatory compliance (including EU NIS2 requirements).
The role combines architecture (±20%) and hands-on technical leadership / DevOps & development (±80%).
Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Leadership & Development Support
- Guide development teams on architecture, integration, scalability, and performance.
- Support implementation of microservices, APIs, and event-driven solutions.
- Lead or validate Proof of Concepts.
- Act as escalation point for complex technical challenges.
- Design and evolve cloud and hybrid architectures (AWS / Azure / GCP).
- Translate enterprise architecture principles into concrete technical solutions.
- Ensure alignment between application, data, and integration architecture.
- Drive maintainable, scalable, and modular system design.
- Promote and support cloud-native practices and containerized deployments (OpenShift).
- Improve CI/CD, automation, and operational reliability.
- Ensure high availability and resilience of systems.
- Apply security-by-design principles across solutions.
- Implement IAM, encryption, and secure network segmentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (including NIS2).
- Promote secure coding and auditability practices.
- Lead architecture reviews and ensure adherence to standards.
- Document architectural decisions and ensure traceability.
- Bridge communication between business, development, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Support knowledge sharing and team upskilling.
- 10+ years in IT architecture and complex enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Solid background in Java (Spring Boot, microservices, API/event-driven architecture).
- Experience with OpenShift / Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MySQL) and data modeling.
- Experience with integration patterns (REST, messaging, event streaming).
- Understanding of high availability and resilient architectures.
- Knowledge of security standards and regulatory compliance (NIS2 is a plus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Clear and structured communication skills.
- Ability to lead without formal authority.
- Bridge builder between technical and business stakeholders.
- Proactive, autonomous, and quality-driven.
- Fluent in French, Dutch, and English.
- Hybrid working model (approx. 2 days onsite / 3 days remote).
- Freelance or permanent (via staffing/detachment model).
