Role: Senior DevOps / Software Engineer (PHP)

Salary: £70,000 per annum (circa)

Location: Cardiff Bay (flexibility around attendance in the office)

Hours: Full time OR Part time options

About the Role

This role sits within an embedded insurance platform serving the luxury goods sector. Following a rebrand and major platform upgrades, their growth strategy centres on global market expansion, adding new consumer product verticals, and integrating next-generation authentication tech. The business is growing and currently does not have sufficient infrastructure workload to justify a full-time DevOps-only function. The role is primarily focused on DevOps and cloud infrastructure.

However, as part of a lean product engineering team, you will also contribute to PHP feature work and technical improvements when required.

This is not a generalist role disguised as a specialism; the DevOps and cloud architecture responsibilities are the primary mandate, and the PHP/Vue.js work is a defined secondary requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture

  • Review and maintain the AWS infrastructure across core services
  • Lead infrastructure implementation for expansion into new territories
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices and architecture decisions

CI/CD & Platform Reliability

  • Manage CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket and GitHub to deploy containerised applications
  • Monitor and improve platform reliability and scalability
  • Support application security and cloud governance

Full-Stack Development

  • Deliver feature work in PHP alongside the development team
  • Work directly with engineers, product managers, and designers on day-to-day delivery

Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or Full-Stack Developer with AWS DevOps responsibilities, in a product-led environment
  • Hands-on production experience with AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker
  • Working knowledge of Laravel PHP and Vue.js, sufficient to contribute to feature development

Desirable

  • Experience with WordPress, Shopify, or Magento

What's on Offer

  • Salary: Circa £70,000, dependent on experience
  • Hybrid working, Cardiff CF10
  • Company pension scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee discounts and subsidised travel
  • Sabbatical eligibility after a qualifying period of service
  • Casual dress
