Senior Cloud Platform Engineer


Overview

We're hiring a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to support the design, automation, and scalability of a large-scale connected technology platform serving millions of users globally. This role is heavily focused on Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, Terraform, automation, and platform reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing production cloud environments and building scalable, cloud-native infrastructure solutions.

Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid - 4 days onsite per week)

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and optimize production Kubernetes environments (EKS and/or GKE)
  • Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Develop cloud-native automation solutions for platform provisioning and operations
  • Create and maintain Helm charts for Kubernetes deployments
  • Support AWS and GCP cloud infrastructure environments
  • Implement and manage GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines
  • Configure and support API gateways and service mesh technologies
  • Build monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar tools
  • Develop internal tooling and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or Node.js
  • Support cloud migration and platform modernization initiatives
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and platform reliability improvements


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE experience
  • Hands-on experience administering production Kubernetes clusters (EKS and/or GKE)
  • Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
  • Experience supporting AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform environments
  • Experience deploying Kubernetes workloads using Helm
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud and distributed systems
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GCP services including GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Operations
  • Service Mesh experience with Istio
  • API Gateway experience using Apigee, Tyk, or NGINX
  • Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD, Tekton, Concourse, or Atlantis
  • Programming experience with Python, Go, Java (Spring Boot), or Node.js
  • Experience with IAM, OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, and cloud security best practices
  • Experience supporting multi-cloud environments (AWS & GCP)
  • Familiarity with gRPC services and protobuf schema management
  • Experience with Terragrunt, Atlantis, or similar Terraform workflow tools
