Senior Software Engineer, Developer Productivity & Platform
Indexed description
Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (5-10 years experience) to revolutionize our internal developer velocity by building the next generation of developer infrastructure and smart tooling. You will bridge the gap between our engineering teams and modern coding assistants, moving beyond traditional CI/CD to treat developer experience (DevEx) as a first-class product.
You will own the developer harness for our engineering organization—building automated support workflows, managing repository context (like claude.md), and designing self-service tooling that seamlessly integrates into the developer workflow to accelerate our C++/Python engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Development Harness: Build, manage, and scale the infrastructure that supports modern coding assistants. Create robust pipelines to measure and improve the quality of automated code generation and internal tools, implementing and managing context files (like claude.md) across repositories.
- Intelligent Developer Tooling: Design and maintain an ecosystem of internal CLI tools, automated workflows, and self-service platforms that eliminate friction and cognitive load for product engineers.
- Workflow Orchestration: Develop and maintain automated systems (e.g., Slack support bots, triage assistants) to streamline engineering operations, utilizing search and knowledge-retrieval architectures to seamlessly surface internal documentation.
- Context Management: Own and optimize repository context systems (including configuration files, rulesets, and prompt libraries) to ensure developer coding tools provide highly accurate, domain-specific suggestions.
- Next-Gen CI/CD Integration: Architect modular testing and feedback frameworks (leveraging GitHub Actions, etc.) that provide rapid, automated, and intelligent feedback on code quality directly within the developer's inner loop.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Engineering Leadership, QA, and feature teams to identify bottlenecks in the development lifecycle and build automated, software-driven solutions.
- Software Engineering: Strong programming proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript. You approach infrastructure and productivity problems by writing software, not just configuring yaml.
- Infrastructure Evolution: Proven experience transitioning traditional DevInfra/DevOps workflows and concepts into smart, automated developer platforms.
- Applied LLM Tooling: Practical experience building internal tools utilizing LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic), designing architectures for internal knowledge retrieval, and implementing complex automation.
- Developer Productivity (DevEx): Deep understanding of modern developer workflows, encompassing GitHub Actions, local development environment orchestration, and building tools for other engineers.
- Tooling & Automation: Strong proficiency in building automated frameworks, worker services, and custom internal portals that integrate seamlessly with existing toolchains.
- Foundation in Infrastructure: Solid working knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments to deploy, scale, and manage the internal tooling you build.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with heavy computational engineering tech stacks (C++ build systems, CMake).
- Knowledge of MLOps, model serving, and model management tools.
- Outstanding PTO and leave policy
- ISO options
- Healthcare: Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
- 401k with generous matching
- Annual stipend for continued career learning/development
- Commuter benefits for NY-based hires
