Title: Principal Security Architect – Enterprise Initiatives (Mythos Security Maturity)
Location: St. Paul, MN (3x per week hybrid, some flexibility)
Employment Type: Long term contract through end of 2026 with expected extension
Salary: 80-90/hr
Position Summary
The Principal Security Architect will lead enterprise-wide security architecture initiatives supporting a large water management, industrial chemicals, and commercial hygiene client’s Mythos Security Maturity Program. This role is responsible for defining and driving strategic security design across One Company consolidation efforts, network segmentation initiatives, vulnerability remediation programs, and enterprise technology modernization.
As a technical leader, the Principal Security Architect partners with security, infrastructure, identity, cloud, networking, and application teams to establish scalable security architecture patterns, guide strategic technology decisions, and ensure alignment with the organization's security maturity objectives. The successful candidate will influence architecture across multiple programs simultaneously while serving as a trusted advisor to senior technology and security leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional security architecture initiatives supporting overall security maturity and enterprise transformation objectives.
- Drive architecture and technical strategy for One Company security consolidation efforts.
- Define enterprise segmentation strategies, reference architectures, and design patterns to reduce organizational risk and improve security posture.
- Provide architecture leadership for end-of-life (EOL) technology migrations and modernization initiatives.
- Partner with infrastructure, cloud, identity, application, and security teams to establish secure-by-design standards across the enterprise.
- Develop enterprise security roadmaps aligned to NIST CSF and broader cybersecurity maturity objectives.
- Evaluate current-state architectures and identify opportunities to improve resilience, scalability, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor across multiple concurrent security programs and strategic initiatives.
- Facilitate architecture governance reviews and provide guidance on complex technology decisions.
- Drive consistency in architecture standards, security controls, and implementation approaches across business units and technology teams.
- Support vulnerability remediation and risk reduction efforts by ensuring underlying architectural issues are addressed at scale.
- Present architecture recommendations, risks, and strategic direction to executive stakeholders and senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, infrastructure architecture, or related technical disciplines.
- 5+ years leading enterprise-scale security architecture initiatives.
- Deep expertise in enterprise security architecture, network architecture, and segmentation strategies.
- Experience designing and implementing security controls across hybrid environments including cloud, on-premises infrastructure, and enterprise applications.
- Strong knowledge of Zero Trust principles, identity-centric security models, and security governance frameworks.
- Experience supporting large-scale technology transformation, consolidation, or modernization programs.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams without direct authority.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting organizations with NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, or similar security maturity frameworks.
- Experience with enterprise network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and secure connectivity architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud security across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management programs and enterprise remediation initiatives.
- Experience developing architecture standards, design patterns, and governance processes for large organizations.
- Security certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, TOGAF, CCSP, or equivalent.
