The Valrose team is excited to represent this client, who is known for strong engineering foundations, clear ownership, and teams that deliver sustainable results.

What you’ll be responsible for…

In this role, platform engineering involves taking responsibility for the people, software, architecture, and delivery within a specific enterprise application area. You will lead and develop engineers, guide technical direction, and stay involved with the technology to challenge decisions, weigh trade-offs, and help solve complex technical problems.

You will be responsible for the full application and service lifecycle, technical health, and operational performance in your area. This means setting technical direction, understanding system dependencies, turning roadmap goals into real engineering results, and guiding decisions on scalability, resilience, maintainability, technical debt, and future investments.

You will work closely with architects and other engineers to evaluate solutions, shape technical approaches, and lead discussions about design choices, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs. You will use Domain-Driven Design and architectural patterns such as Hexagonal Architecture, Backend-for-Frontend, Anti-Corruption Layer, MACH, Strangler Fig, and Saga to ensure solutions fit well with the larger enterprise platform.

You will lead, coach, and mentor software engineers, supporting their performance, career growth, and development. You will foster an environment where engineers feel comfortable challenging ideas, raising concerns, and sharing knowledge. You will also help identify skill gaps, contribute to workforce planning and recruitment, and give team members clear expectations, ownership, and autonomy.

You will be responsible for delivery quality, technical outcomes, and meeting deadlines. You will work with the delivery and planning teams on scope, estimates, sequencing, and roadmap commitments. This includes spotting risks and dependencies early, making sure releases and operations are ready, helping with technical triage and complex production issues, and keeping an eye on regular work.

You will help improve software engineering practices in design, development, testing, code review, release, and support. This includes supporting trunk-based development and Gitflow, using DevOps, CI/CD, and observability practices, and encouraging the use of AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, SST, and AWS CLI. You will also make sure that AI-assisted development and AI-generated code follow proper security, quality, and human review standards.

What you’ll bring to the role...

Your experience leading cloud-based software teams will help you balance engineering quality, team development, and delivery goals.

Your background in AWS, APIs, and modern application architecture will help you quickly earn trust. Your leadership style will create a space where engineers can contribute, learn, and do their best work.

You have hands-on development experience with TypeScript, Node.js, PHP, or similar software engineering technologies.

You are familiar with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and production observability.

You can assess technical options, explain trade-offs, and guide teams to make practical decisions.

You have experience coaching engineers, building their skills, and managing performance positively.

You are comfortable working with architecture, engineering, delivery, planning, and business stakeholders.

You can explain technical topics clearly without leaving out important risks or dependencies.

You take a disciplined approach to using and managing AI tools for coding and software development.
