Senior Director of Information Security

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Director of Information Security to serve as a senior-level individual contributor overseeing compliance strategy and client engagement for a growing, highly regulated technology-driven organization. The Senior Director of Information Security will take ownership of the company’s security governance program, ensuring policies, procedures, and risk frameworks align with regulatory obligations and client expectations while acting as the primary liaison for external security inquiries and assessments. The Senior Director of Information Security will work hybrid on site 3 days a week in Chapell Hill NC.

Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Information Security:

• Direct and evolve the enterprise-wide information security and risk management program, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and business objectives
• Act as the primary client-facing security leader, managing due diligence requests, audit support, and complex security questionnaires for enterprise customers
• Lead compliance initiatives including SOC 2 and third-party certifications, while coordinating external auditors and assessment vendors
• Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to validate that appropriate safeguard, monitoring tools, and controls are effectively implemented
• Drive data protection strategies, incident preparedness exercises, and contribute to governance frameworks including emerging AI security initiatives

Qualifications of the Senior Director of Information Security:

• 10+ years of experience across information security, IT risk, compliance, and governance within a fast-paced or scaling organization
• Proven experience managing or supporting compliance programs such as SOC 2, HITRUST, HIPAA, NIST, or ISO frameworks
• Strong ability to engage directly with external clients and represent security practices during assessments, audits, and reviews
• Solid understanding of modern infrastructure, cloud environments, and application security principles within technology-focused organizations
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with knowledge of software development lifecycles

Compensation for the Senior Director of Information Security includes:

• Salary range: $190,000 - $230,000 annually
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
