Location: Cleveland (Onsite – 4 days in office)

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: Manager, QA and Automation

Travel: <10%

Your Impact


CHAMP is seeking a confident and highly motivated Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (Lead SDET). In this role, you will lead and work alongside our SDET team in coordination with product, engineering and support. We approach testing with a “left-shifting,” automation-first mindset. Providing early feedback to our engineering team during development, while automating our regression suite prior to release. This individual should not be afraid to ask questions, fail fast, move quick and successfully embed themselves within the SDLC from requirements analysis through to regression and release.


Seeing as this is a lead role, the candidate should be comfortable mentoring other team members while implementing and encouraging best practices. We seek someone who will be hands-on while also leading architectural automation strategies. We value a “self-starter” mentality and someone who wants to drive change and bring forth any new ideas to better our process through each layer of our pipeline. You should be confident in your technical and leadership abilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a small but mighty team of SDETs
  • Align the team and test suites with the “Testing Pyramid”
  • Communicate frequently with engineering and product.
  • Create reusable e2e test sets encompassing APU testing, UI testing and integrations.
  • Maintain and eliminate flaky test cases.
  • Consider cross-browser testing, mobile testing, performance and accessibility testing.
  • Analyze results, create reports, and be able to communicate results effectively.
  • Keep your work tickets updated and organized.
  • Constantly strive to optimize our existing test suites, while keeping pace with the development of new features.



Requirements Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in either an SDET, QA Automation or developer role.
  • 2+ years of team lead experience.
  • Javascript, Typescript (or any other object-oriented programming language.
  • Cypress, Selenium, Playwright or similar experience.
  • API & E2E Testing.
  • Experience analyzing error logs (Cloudwatch or similar).
  • Experience with mobile testing.
  • Experience with cross-browser testing.
  • Experience with accessibility testing.
  • Experience with performance testing.
  • A proven track record of success (with real world examples).
  • A high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Experience utilizing AI for test automation.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 annually . This is a good faith estimate, and final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
