Why Freetrailer?
Freetrailer may look like trailer rental from the outside. From the inside, it is a digital self-service platform with a lot of moving parts: mobile apps, web booking, payments, product availability, partner locations and operations that all must keep working while we release more rapidly. That is exactly why release confidence matters so much here, and why this role is central to how the whole team ships.
We are a listed company with more than 100 employees, but our Tech team is still small, hands-on and close to the business. We move fast, try things out and follow good ideas all the way when we believe in them. We believe in short decision paths, informal collaboration and giving people real ownership.
We celebrate wins together. And when things do not go as planned, we stand together, learn from it and improve. We are scaling quickly, but we are determined to keep the startup mindset that got us here.
About The Role
You will define and drive how we approach test automation, release readiness and quality across our app, web booking and backend, together with a small, hands-on Tech team that already treats quality as a shared responsibility. You are not only a gatekeeper checking work at the end; you are the person who helps the whole team get better at owning quality together.
You might come from QA automation, software engineering or test engineering. What matters most is strong technical understanding, real hands-on experience with test automation, and a passion for improving how software gets built and shipped.
Your Main Responsibilities
You will shape a pragmatic test automation strategy across app, web and backend: deciding what is worth automating, building a balanced mix of unit, integration, API and end-to-end tests, and integrating them into our pipelines so feedback is fast and releases are confident. You will define practical release-readiness criteria, cut down manual regression testing, and catch quality risks early.
You will work close to the code and close to the team: helping developers build testable solutions from the start, supporting them in writing and maintaining tests, and making quality visible in a simple, actionable way, without turning it into bureaucracy or a heavy KPI machine.
Who You Are
You have solid experience with test automation, quality engineering or software development with a strong testing focus. You are technically strong, comfortable close to the code, and you know how to build automation that supports fast, stable releases. You can work across app, web and backend, you are pragmatic (the goal is better software, not perfect coverage), and you enjoy helping teams raise their game. You communicate clearly with developers and non-technical colleagues alike, and you follow things through.
It is a plus if you have worked with test automation frameworks, mobile/React Native/Expo testing, web end-to-end and API testing, CI/CD, release automation, or quality metrics and incident learning in a product or scale-up environment.
What you will help us achieve
In your first year, we hope you will help us:
- Build a stronger, more automated quality setup.
- Reduce our dependency on manual testing before releases.
- Increase confidence in app, web and backend releases.
- Move from two-week app cycles towards weekly and later daily releases.
- Make our most important customer journeys safer to change.
- Help developers take even stronger ownership of quality.
