An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cloud & Platform Security Architect to join a technology-driven organisation investing heavily in modern cloud infrastructure and engineering capabilities.

This position will play a key role in shaping secure cloud platforms, influencing architectural decisions and enabling engineering teams to deliver resilient, scalable solutions. You'll work across architecture, engineering, infrastructure and security teams to ensure security is embedded throughout the software delivery lifecycle while supporting innovation and operational excellence.

What you'll be responsible for

• Define cloud security standards, architectural principles and technical roadmaps.
• Design secure cloud solutions across AWS and Azure environments.
• Develop reusable security patterns, reference architectures and engineering standards.
• Integrate security into Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Design secure identity, access management, secrets management, encryption and network security solutions.
• Lead security architecture reviews, technical design workshops and threat modelling activities.
• Assess technology risks and provide pragmatic recommendations to engineering and leadership teams.
• Drive security automation, policy-as-code and continuous compliance across cloud environments.
• Collaborate with platform engineers, infrastructure specialists, software engineers and technical leaders to improve security maturity.
• Support governance, audit and regulatory initiatives, ensuring cloud platforms align with recognised industry frameworks.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and security tooling through technical assessments and proof-of-concepts.
• Mentor engineers and architects while promoting secure engineering practices across development teams.
• Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and strengthen platform security.

What we're looking for

You'll bring strong technical depth together with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Essential experience

• Solid experience in Cloud Security Architecture, Security Engineering or a closely related technical role.
• Extensive experience securing enterprise cloud environments using AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code technologies and secure infrastructure automation.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices within engineering organisations.
• Hands-on experience designing security controls for cloud networking, IAM, encryption, key management, logging and monitoring.
• Experience developing automated governance controls and policy-as-code solutions.
• Strong understanding of cloud security architecture, resilience and operational best practice.
• Experience working within Agile software delivery environments.
• Ability to conduct threat modelling, architecture reviews and technical risk assessments.
• Experience supporting security compliance initiatives aligned with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls, SOC 2 and GDPR.

Desirable

• AWS or Microsoft Azure Professional and/or Security certifications.
• Experience with cloud-native security tooling.
• Knowledge of container security, Kubernetes and modern platform engineering practices.
• Experience implementing enterprise-scale security automation.
